HUBLOT’S NEWEST CREATION CELEBRATES GERMAN CULTURE IN THE WAKE OF OKTOBERFEST

Hublot, the Swiss luxury watchmakers known for their convention defying designs has once again managed to captivate people, but this time with tradition. Created in collaboration with the German fashion house Meindl, Hublot’s Big Bang Bavaria in copper is the latest addition to its Big Bang collection. The watch is described as a blend of tradition and innovation and is heavily influenced by its namesake Bavarian culture.

The Big Bang Bavaria in Copper is a fine blend of Hublot’s Swiss precision techniques and Meindl’s German artistry. The watch is configured with Hublot’s state of the art Unico movement. The impressive watch case is fashioned out of copper with a black ceramic back and 3N gold screw, but the most intriguing component of the watch has to be its deer leather straps, designed in the likeness of a traditional ‘Lederhosen’. The straps have been installed with its two ‘One-click’ attachment system, which allows for the watch’s look to be modified. The straps are laboriously tanned for over a period of 3-4 months using age old Meindl techniques and then traditionally embroidered, rendering the strap with a 3-D effect. There are two available variants of the strap; the first one being natural tan in color with an embroidered deer head, while the other version comes in “altsalzburg” (black-brown) deer leather, with oak leaves embroidered on it.

The Big Bang Bavaria in copper was launched on the 19th of September at the Hublot Boutique in Munich. To pay the Bavarian culture, the launch also celebrated Oktoberfest where, in the spirit of Weisn’, Hublot’s CEO, Ricardo Guadalupe tapped a bear barrel. Joining Ricardo Guadalupe were Jean-Claude Biver, the mentor and chairman of Hublot and CEO of Tag Heur, and Markus Meindl, CEO of Meindl.
