The 23rd edition of the Hublot Polo Gold Cup will be held on the grounds of Gstaad-Saanen from August 16th to 19th in Switzerland. The alpine 14-goal tournament is the highest level of polo on grass in Switzerland. This year, the spectators are set to enjoy 4 days of high quality polo and beautiful festivities. This year two new teams are set to join the party.

The first new personality will be of Faris Al Yabhauni, the owner of Abu Dhabi Polo Team. He’s set to play for Clinique La Praire. He’s been playing high level polo for more than a decade and is set to grace Switzerland with his presence. The Emirati has played at high level for more than a decade and had a very good 2017/18 season and was the finalist of the 18 goal tournament- The Dubai Gold Cup. He’s previously won the Emirates Open and the HH President of UAE Polo Cup. The reputation already positions him as one of the favourites to win the tournament.

Marco Elser, president of the Arquedotto Ramano Polo Club will be the second new personality. The Italian has played in all the corners of the world and will play for Gstaad Palace team and looks set to take this tournament in his stride as he has played in Shanghai, Singapore , United States and many more.

The regulars of the Hublot Polo Gold Cup, Piero Dilier and Andy Bihrer will alternately play for Hublot. Title holder Cedric Schweri will once again play for team Banque Eric Sturdza. Cedric finally managed to win the title after five previous failed attempts and will play for the same team this year as well and would look to defend it successfully.

The tournament is going to be competitive and will start on Thursday, August 16th with the qualifying matches and will continue on Saturday, August 18th with the semifinals. The finals will take place on 19th August. The players will ride through the streets on August 17th for the famous parade accompanied by fanfares and carriages. The Gala night will be the second festive highlight of the weekend and will take place on Saturday
