NYBG’s Biggest Fundraiser Pays Tribute To CEO Gregory Long
This year’s Conservatory Ball raises $2.4 million toward New York Botanical Garden’s Children’s Education and Plant Research and Conservation Programs.

New York Botanical Garden in partnership with Northern Trust organized its biggest fund raising event on Thursday, June 7 to benefit the Garden’s acclaimed programs in education and botanical research. The proceeds are used to serve a few hundred thousand children and families in the tri-state area, and help with conservation and biodiversity causes around the globe.
2018 witnessed a striking increase in the fund raised by the Ball in contrast to last year’s collection of $1.7 Million.
Apart from being a fundraiser, the Conservatory Ball also celebrated Gregory Long, the Chief Executive Officer of NYBG, for 29 years of his service. Gregory Long, who would be stepping down on June 30, was honoured by New York City Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen, who officially declared June 7, 2018, as “Gregory Long Day” after him.
Graff and Valentino, in addition to Northern Trust, also provided assistance for the Conservatory Ball. Graff diamonds were showcased by models who were spotted wearing eye-catching jewellery.
NYBG Trustee Sigourney Weaver was seen wearing a Manaola Yap dress, custom-made for the event. The dress added to the Luau theme with its colours inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s Visions of Hawai’i exhibition.
