The matches since November 4 have now been played in the Argentine Open; in Buenos Aires, with the finals of the last tournament of the Triple Crown that is yet to happen on 2nd of December, 2017. The tournament was won by La Dolfina last year, but who will come out on top this year? That arises the question so far.

Boasting the highest number of 10-goal players in the sport, Argentina has long been home to the best polo in the world, and the annual Argentine Open in Buenos Aires is considered the most important interclub championship. It is the third and final part of the Argentine Triple Crown, which is a series of the most important polo tournaments worldwide. The Triple Crown consists of the Tortugas Open, Hurlingham Open and Argentine Open.

So at the end of this week of play Alegria head up the leader board having won both their open matches. However both La Dolfina and Ellerstina have a game in hand. The only other teams to have played a second match so far are La Irenita, who are in the middle of the table having won one and lost one, and La Esquina los Machitos and Chapaleufu who are on the bottom having lost both their games.

The ten teams were divided into two divisions, with each team playing the others in their division. Once all the matches have been played the winner of division A will play the winner of division B for the Final at Palermo.

With La Dolfina holding a team handicap of 40 goals, and Ellerstina having 39, the final will be between these two giants; Cambiaso, Stirling, MacDonough and Nero battle against the Pieres team. The tournament attracts thousands of spectators each year to the stadium in Palermo. The spectacular contest takes place in Buenos Aires every spring, between November and December, at the Argentine Polo Ground in Palermo - a venue known as "the cathedral of polo".

Glamorous crowds flock to the event to see the world’s best players display their formidable skills on the field before celebrating at the glitzy post-match parties. Witnessing the speed and dexterity of the players and horses up close on the field, and the incredible accuracy of each shot, make for an unforgettable experience.
