On 13th and 14th December 2017 – the Jodhpur Polo and Equestrian Institute – Presented by RJI Capital in Association with Chelsea Barracks and Royal Salute, hosted by His Highness The Maharaja Gaj Singh II of Marwar- Jodhpur, British Polo Day celebrated its 64th global event in India.
Coming back to Jodhpur for the 7th time, names such as former England Captain Malcolm Borwick, tech entrepreneur Sam Browne, and His Highness Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur graced the spectators with their presence.
The Umaid Bhawan Palace Cup was the highlight game of British Polo Day. The British Army, who were trotting on 3 wins in a row against various local teams, could not win. In fact, in a stark turn of affairs, Jodhpur Risala defeated HACKETT British Army by a majestic total of 10-3 , a delight for the local spectators.
Jodhpur Risala featuring Kartikeya Singh, Nikel Singh, Yogi Singh and Druvpal Godara, were 7 to 2 up at half time and ran comfortable winners by the end of the game.
A gala dinner on the lawns of Umaid Bawan palace was hosted by his highness Gaj Singh II Maharaja of Marwar - Jodhpur. A grand total of $16,000 was raised for Head Injuries Through Sport- a charity close to the heart of British Polo Day.
