Canada Ends The FINA Youth World Championship On a High
The Canadian men finished their tournament with a 20-6 win against Saudi Arabia at the 2018 FINA Youth World Championships in Szombathely, Hungary. Canada took an early lead in the first quarter with Bor Tanasijevic and Mason Archer both scoring for the Canadian squad (2-0). Saudi Arabia was able to answer back on its power play, but Garrett Davis made sure Canada kept its two-goal lead when he tallied one with the extra-man advantage. Both teams exchanged goals before the end of the quarter (4-2).

The Canadian squad came out strong in the second quarter, Bor Tanasijevic and William Chapman found the back of the net to extend their team's lead. The Saudis capitalized on their extra-man advantage to put their team back into the game at 6-4. Diego Gonzalez would score one on the counter-attack to see Tanasijevic complete his hat-trick to regain a four-goal lead at the end of the first half (8-4).

The Canadians came out firing in the second half, netting five unanswered goals to take a 13-4 lead. Gonzalez, Archer, Chapman, and Cugalj each scored a second goal in this match. Stephen Gloade netted his first of the game with a backhand shot from centre. Garrett Davis scored his fourth and fifth goal in the final quarter to help Canada earn a 20-5 win.

“It is a good way to end our tournament. We played as a team, and we were able to capitalize on our opportunities. I hope I will get the chance to play with these guys again” indicated Bor Tanasijevic of the youth men's national team.
