BMW IPA INDIAN OPEN POLO CHAMPIONSHIP: DAY 1

T

he first match of the IPA Indian polo championship featured, the mighty Jindal Panther take on Cavalry-Piccadily. Both team had star studded teams with Cavalry having Col Ravi Rathore , Mr Samir Suhag , Mr Dhruvpal Godara and Maj Aman Singh (1st two chukkers) and Mr Raghav Rao in their squad. Jindal Panther had Mr Sachin Sarbalia, Mr Goffredo , Mr Shamsheer Ali and Mr Simran Shergill in their team.

Cavalry were in their famous orange kit while Jindal were wearing blue. The match umpires were Mr Nicolas Scortichini and Mr Uday Kalaan. Goffredo opened the scoring for Jindal and cavalry responded with a goal from Dhruvpal Godara. The score after the first chukker was 1-1.

A goal by Godara either side of two goals by Goffredo saw the score shift 3-2 in favour of Jindal Panther at the end of the second chukker. Four more goals were added to the scoreboard , two by each team in the third chukker and the, score after the third chukker was 5-4 in favour of Jindal Panther. The 4th chukker saw four more goals from both sides and the score was 7-6 by the end of it.

The fifth chukker saw Jindal Panther increase their lead as they scored two goals and Cavalry could only score one, and the score was 9-7 by the end of it. The sixth and final chukker was an intense one as both teams scored two goals. The final score being 11-9 in favour of Jindal Panther. An action packed match , brought an end to the first day of IPA Indian polo championship.
