JINDAL PANTHERS CELEBRATES VICTORY IN THE INDIAN OPEN POLO CHAMPIONSHIP (20 GOALS)

he Jaipur Polo Grounds in Delhi hosted the Indian Open Polo Championship, 2016. With men sporting fedora hats and women in boots, the event had members of the capital’s business, social and political circle. The Two teams which fought for the ‘IPA Rose Bowl’ trophy at the Indian Open Polo Championship are: Jindal Panthers consisting of Mr.Abhimanyu Pathak (+5), Mr. Simran Sherill (+6), Mr. J.P. Clarkin (+8), Mr. Naveen Jindal (0) and Mr. Padmanabh Singh (+1).

The other team was Rajniganda Achievers consisting of: Mr. Dhruvpal Godara (+5), Lt. Col. Ravi Rathore (+5), Mr. Matias Vel Perez (+6) and Mr. Vishal Singh (+4). From the very beginning of the match both teams took a quick pace, moving all over the field and delighting the audience with beautiful attacks. The first chukker of the match went great for the achievers with a score of 2-0, giving the Achievers a lead to the match. The 2nd chukker created a thrill among the audience as the 3rd and 4th goal were in favour of Jindal Panthers, both made by Mr. Simran Shergill. Another goal was scored in favour of Jindal Panther by J.P. Clarkin. Thus, the 2nd chukker ended with a score of 2-3.

The 3rd chukker also started by creating a thrill amongst the players and audience with a 60 yard penalty where Matias strikes and a goal was made. Another goal was made in favour of Jindal Panthers by Naveen Jindal. The 3rd chukker ended with a goal made by Col. Ravi Rathore in favour of Achievers with the final score before the half time break being 4-4.

During the half time break the guests were traditionally invited to the ground for a presentation ceremony. Ladies in their summer dresses and hats had fun taking pictures and posting their portraits in social networks. The 4th chukker started with a good luck for the Jindal Panthers as 3 consecutive goals were made in favour of them by J.P. Clarkin also with a penalty 5B goal. The 4th chukker ended with a score of 4-8 in favour of Jindal Panther.

The 5th chukker went slow with no goal made till 3 minutes of the match and then the penalty no. 4 in favour of Achievers where Matias Perez striked and a goal was made for the Achievers leaving the score to 8 goals to 5 in favour of Jindal Panthers. During the last 6th chukker for the match a 30 yard and a 60 yard penalty was given in favour of Achievers, where both goals were made by Matias Perez. During the last 32 seconds of the match another goal was made in favour of Achievers taking the match to a score of 8-8, thus sudden death; taking the match to an exciting turn calling for 7th chukker to be played for the Golden Goal.

During the 7th chukker to be played with both the teams on the field with all thier vigor and adrenaline pumping a 60 yard penalty in favour of Achievers, Matias striked and a whistle was heard. With 5 minutes and 4 seconds left for the 7th chukker the Golden Goal was made by Simran Shergill with the scores being 8-9; making Jindal Panthers bag the winning trophy of the 116th year of Indian Open Polo Championship, 2016.

After the match all the players and guests gathered for a prize-giving ceremony. The Jindal Panthers team received the ‘IPA Rose Bowl’ trophy and the title of winning the 116th year of Indian Open Polo Championship, 2016.
