The Wait is Over! Ralph Lauren Polo Bear Watch Is Out

The four iconic bears of Polo Ralph Lauren - Flag Bear, Martini Bear, Preppy Bear and Spectator Bear that are inspired by Ralph Lauren’s personal dressing style are back in the brands fall/winter 201819 fashion in form of a collaboration with a Swiss watchmaking name. The watch is called ‘POLO BEAR WATCH’ and is probably Continuing his 50th-anniversary celebration, Ralph Lauren is launching the Polo Bear Collection, which combines Swiss watchmaking with the Polo Bear — a favourite icon in the world of designs.

The collection brings back the essence of the first ever timepieces for the polo brand. In a recent interview at Ralph Lauren’s Manhattan office, he was spotted flaunting an embroidered RL sweater while sitting at a coffee table with memorabilia and two stuffed Polo Bears. When asked about the inspiration of the Polo Bear Watch, he said the idea of the watches was just for fun and are not the modern smartwatches nor does they rife with complications like minute repeaters, chronograph, time zones etc. “It’s purely a fun project. It was not about who’s out there and what are they doing. I find that when I do things like this, with a smile on it, it works. It’s not planned to be a big thing. If it is, we’ll take it, but it’s not planned. I find for me, that’s what works,” said Lauren.

As the most talked about the question of why he choose this particular time to launch the Polo Bear watch popped up in front of him he said, “ All of a sudden, everyone was buying the bears. There was such a desire and I wanted to launch my first Polo watch and thought we’ll do teddy bears. The Polo Bear is one of the constant themes of the company from 25 years. It was in 1991 that the adored Polo Bear made his debut in the fashion market with a limited-edition of 200 dressed in miniaturized Polo Ralph Lauren attire. All thanks to German toy manufacturer, Steiff.

 

 

Ralph Lauren Preppy, Flag and Spectator Bear Watches

In the Manhattan office interview, Lauren admitted that his favourite amongst all is the Preppy Bear. The brand’s teddy bear characters are all hand-printed on a lacquered creamy white dial and are accompanied by black Breguet-style hands. Manufactured under the flagship of Polo Ralph Lauren in collaboration with Swiss watchmaker Compagnie Financière Richemont, the Polo Bear watches will be an exclusive range at select Ralph Lauren stores and on the Ralph Lauren website in the beginning next month. Ralph Lauren Polo Bear is a limited edition watch range on which Mr Lauren has hopes that it will turn into a collector piece.
