Sapphire-Bayswater wins the XVI Conde de Guaqui Memorial
Sapphire-Bayswater team faced Jolly Roger King of Polo team in the finals of the 16th edition of the Conde De Guaqui Memorial. The tournament was held at the Santa Maria Polo Club in Spain and the final was a fitting end to a thrilling tournament.
The three day tournament concluded with the Sapphire Bayswater team winning the 16th edition of the Conde de Guaqui Memorial. Carlos Piñal, Pablo Mora-Figueroa, Diogo Gallego and Lawrence Isola featured for Bayswater team, while the quartet of Niclas Johanson, Matt Evetts, Jamie Lehardy and Anders Thulin featured for Jolly Roger King of Polo team. The Sapphire Bayswater team was undefeated throughout the XVI Conde de Guaqui Memorial and finally surpassed their final opponents by 5-3 and with it the 16th Conde de Guaqui Memorial.
Iron bridge beat Don Carlos / N. Equi Events , in a tight match by five goals to four, played before the final also in the fields of Los Pinos in the fight for the third and fourth place. After the final, the trophies were presented to the winners, and tasting of the traditional Argentine barbecue prepared by La Quinta restaurant was done. The families and fans in attendance enjoyed the terraces and the lush green areas of the Club, along with the high quality polo that was being showcased.
With the Conde de Guaqui Memorial there are already three tournaments held at the Santa María Polo Club so far this year. In the month of April, and throughout the spring season, many games and tournaments are scheduled to take place at the
Santa Maria Polo Club every weekend. The Dona Maria de las Mercedes Memorial and the International Polo Tournament are some of the grand slam events that are yet to feature this year at the Santa Maria Polo Club.
