Cutthroat Matches On Second Day Of Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Cup 2018
Three matches were played on the second day of Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Cup 2018. The Delhi Polo season is in full swing at the AEC Polo Ground.

The opening match of the day took place at AEC Ground II between Sona Polo and Hyderabad Chaughan. The team composition of Sona Polo team was Mr. Sunjay J Kapur(0), Mr. Nicholas Pepper(+4), Mr. Abhimanyu Pathak(+5), and Mr. Vishal Singh(+3) for Sona Polo, while Hyderabad Chaughan composed of Mr. Krishna Inkiya(+1), Mr. Hamza Ali(+3), Mr. Gaurav Sahgal(+3) and Mr. Basheer Ali(+5).

The match started at 1:00 pm giving rise to brilliant strokes. The opening score for the match was stroked by Basheer Ali in favor of Hyderabad Chaughan. It was as if the pace kept going and Hyderabad Chaughan that they made two more goals, both striked by Gaurav Sahgal. It was only in the last few minutes that Sona Polo made a come back into the game when Nicholas Pepper striked a score leading to Sona Polo 1 and Hyderabad Chaughan 3 by the end of Chukker 1.

The second chukker started with a penalty shot 30 stricken by Vishal. The score went to 2-3. The other score was again a penalty shot 30 but this time in favor of Hyderabad Chaughan shot by Gaurav Sahgal, making the score 2-4. Taking the trend of penalty shots ahead, Abhimanyu Pathak came in for the next penalty shot 40, now the scores were 3-4. The next score was made by Basheer Ali, but the chukker remained penalty shot possessed, thus, the last strike was again a penalty shot 60 made by Vishal Singh. By the end of the second chukker, the scores were 4-5.

The last two chukkers remained taut and not much was scored during them. The third chukker for that matter saw only one goal in favor of Hyderabad Chaughan by Hamza Ali. the score at the end of chukker 3 then remained 4-6.

The match galloped into the fourth chukker and saw only two scores. The first one was stricken beautifully by Basheer Ali for Hyderabad Chaughan, but the second strike was in favor of Sona Polo. The match wrapped at 5-7, where Sona Polo lost to Hyderabad Chaughan.

Sahara Warriors win two matches in a row.


The second match of the day for Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Cup 2018 started off at 2:00 pm at AEC Ground II between Sahara Warriors and LA Pegasus Polo Knights. Mr. Vandit Golechha(0), Mr. Pranav Kapur(+2), Mr. Salim Azmi(+3), and Mr. Matthew Philip Perry(+6)made the Sahara Warrior team, while Mr. Dhananjay Singh(0), Mr. Mitesh Mehta(+1), Mr. Shamesheer Ali(+6), and Mr. Dhruvpal Godara(+5) played as LA Pegasus Polo Knights.

The match started off with Sahara Warriors 0.5 and Knights 0. The first goal of the match was in favor of Sahara Warriors by Salim Azmi. Within minutes the opposing team scored a goal in their favor. The first chukker ended at 1-1.5.

Galloping into the second chukker, Salim Azmi striked a wonderful goal in favor of Sahara Warrior. The next score was a penalty shot 60 made by Matthew Philip Perry followed by another strike by him. The next goal was done by Vandit again in favor of Sahara Warrior. The trend of Sahara Warrior making scores for the team was hampered when Shamsheer Ali striked a goal for the Titans. The score by the wrap of the second chukker was 2-5 - 5.

Matthew Perry opened the scoring for the third chukker with a beautiful strike. The score after Matthew Perry’s goal was 6.5 - 2, with Sahara Warriors in the lead. LA Pegasus Polo Knights replied back quickly with a goal from Dhruvpal Godara. Matthew Perry scored one more to help Sahara Warriors maintain their lead. Sahara Warriors were leading by 7.5 - 3 after Matthew Perry’s goal. Shamsheer Ali scored a goal in the final minutes of the third chukker. LA Pegasus Polo Knights were behind by 7.5 - 4 after the third chukker.

The fourth chukker started with Vandit scoring for the team. It was followed by an opponent strike by Dhruvpal Godara. The score now was 5-8.5. The last two strikes were again in favor of Sahara Warriors by Vandit and Salim Azmi respectively. The score at the end of the match was 5-10.5. Sahara Warriors clearly galloped for victory.

Jindal Panthers Win The Third Match Of The Day


The third match saw Aravali Polo and Jindal Panther against each other, where Mr. Raghav Rao(+1), Mr. Kuldeep Singh Rathore(+2), Mr. Angad Kalaan(+3), and Mr. Manuel F Llorente(+6) played for Aravali Polo. Jindal Panther, on the other hand comprised of Mr. Bhawani Singh Kalvi(+2), Mr. Tom Brodie(+4), Mr. Simran S Shergill(+6) and Mr. Naveen Jindal (0).

The third match of the day started off with Angad Kalaan striking the first goal for Aravali Polo. The first chukker wrapped with no more goals from any of the teams, thus, the score remained at 0-1.

The second chukker opened with a splendid strike by Manuel F Llorente, followed by another goal of Kuldeep Singh Rathore, both in favor of Aravali Polo. The opponent team came back into the game with two powerful strikes byTom Brodie and Simran S Shergill. The score at the end of the second chukker was 2-3.

The third chukker like the first two was again opened by Angad Kalaan, which was answered by a goal from Naveen Jindal. As if in a loop it was complimented by a goal of Bhawani, followed by another one by Simran.

Raghav Rao opened the fourth chukker with two goals back to back, which was defensively attacked by Simran S Shergill, making the score 6-6 after the end of fourth chukker.

The match had to go on for a fifth chukker to come to a final score, and Bhawani Singh striked the winning penalty shot bringing victory to Jindal Panther. The match ended at 7-6.
