A Series Of Intense Battles On Second Day Of Vodafone Sirmour Cup

The Vodafone Sirmour Cup progressed into the second day at the RPC Ground, Jaipur today where four teams came in to battle against each other.

The second match of the day, between Sona Polo and Chandna Group, was ready to witness some intense Polo action. With both the teams ready to give a good fight each other, the match kicked off at the RPC ground at 3:30pm. The warm-up session before the match ended with the match umpires, Jason Dixon and Samir Suhag blowing the whistle for the match to start. The match kicked off with Simran Singh Shergill bagging the first goal for Sona Polo team. As the match progressed, Sona Polo couldn’t maintain the lead as Dhruvpal Godara scored two back to back goals for Chandna Group to help his team get in the front. The score was 2 - 1 with Chandna Group in the lead. Chandna Group scored a goal to extend their lead. The scoreboard read 3 - 1 with Chandna Group in the lead when Abhimanyu Pathak scored a goal in the dying minutes of the game to end the chukker.

The second chukker kicked off with Abhimanyu Pathak scoring another one for Sona Polo to get them back in the game. The scores were levelled at 3 - 3 after Abhimanyu’s goal. With the match levelled, both the teams resumed the match from the centre. A brilliant effort by Simran Singh Shergill was blocked by Gerardo. Abhimanyu’s goal was replied back by Dhruvpal Godara as he backed another goal for his team. The chukker ended with Chandna Group leading the match by a goal.

Sona Polo and Chandna Group entered the field in the third chukker as the match progressed into the third chukker. Sona Polo scored the first goal of the third chukker as Sunjay Kapur bagged that goal. The score was levelled at 4 - 4 when Dhruvpal Godara, “our very own rockstar”, as the people associated with Polo call him, scored a fantastic goal and helped his team get in the front. The fourth chukker opened with Dhruvpal Godara scoring another goal for Chandna Group. The goal marked Dhruvpal and Chandna Group’s eighth goal. As the match progressed, both the teams tried hard to score a goal. Dhruvpal, running with the ball from the left hit a powerful strike towards the goal scoring the 9th goal for his team. The score was 9 - 4 after Dhruvpal’s goal. Abhimanyu Pathak scored a goal in the dying minutes of the fourth chukker for Sona Polo. The fourth chukker ended with Chandna Group comfortably leading the match.

The last chukker opened with Gerardo Mazzini bagging a fantastic goal for Chandna Group. The goal marked the 10th goal for Chandna Group. The score was 10 - 5 when Abhimanyu Pathak bagged another one for Sona Polo. Leading by 4 goals, Chandna Group switched their play to defence and made it difficult for Sona Polo to score goals. Sona Polo couldn’t score any more goals and the match ended with Chandna Group’s victory.

The exciting match between Garcha Hotels and Sahara Warriors kicked off at 12:45 pm at the RPC ground with both the teams marching towards the field on their horses. A warm-up session before the match ended as soon as the umpires, Jason Dixon and Gaurav Sahgal blew the whistle for the match to start. Excited to their nerves, the spectators were eagerly waiting for some brilliant Polo action. Going head to head, Sahara Warriors and Garcha Hotels were involved in an intense battle as only two goals were scored in the first chukker of the match. The chukker kicked off and Garcha Hotels scored a fabulous goal to lead the game. There were no goals scored for some time when one more goal by Garcha Hotels in the dying minutes led to the chukker ending with Garcha Hotels in the lead.

GARCHA HOTELS: 2
SAHARA WARRIORS: 0

 

The second chukker went into action with both the teams trying hard to score a goal. Witnessing some intense Polo action on the second day, the spectators were on their toes as no goals were scored in the early minutes of the chukker. A goal was scored when a beautiful strike from Sahara Warriors went through the poles. The score was Garcha Hotels leading with 2 goals while Sahara Warriors with 1 goal. The chukker was about to end when Garcha Hotels scored a goal to end the chukker.

 

 

CHUKKER 2:
GARCHA HOTELS: 3
SAHARA WARRIORS: 1

 

 

Garcha Hotels and Sahara Warriors came into the field after a break for the third chukker. The chukker kicked off with a goal from Sahara Warriors. Sahara Warriors were getting back in the game as the scorecard read Garcha Hotels at 3 while Sahara Warriors at 2. The game progressed with another goal from Sahara Warriors which levelled the scores at 3. The chukker didn't end here as Garcha Hotels scored a fabulous goal to maintain the lead after the third chukker.

GARCHA HOTELS: 4
SAHARA WARRIORS: 3

 

 

The fourth chukker came into action with both the teams fighting hard to push the ball through the goal. The chukker kicked off as umpire Jason Dixon whistled for the game to resume. Matthew Perry, in the red helmet, tried to run from the right but was stopped mid-way by Manuel Llorente’s block. A good defence game from Garcha Hotels tried hard to stop Sahara Warriors but Matthew Perry was able to strike the ball into the goal levelling the scores at 4 - 4.

GARCHA HOTELS: 4
SAHARA WARRIORS: 4

 

 

With the scores level at 4 - 4, the teams entered the fifth chukker of the match. The match was completely unpredictable throughout and neither of the two teams was ready to give up. As the fifth chukker progressed, Siddhant Sharma scored the first goal of the chukker and helped Sahara Warriors get in the front. Sahara Warriors leading the match by a goal didn’t allow Garcha Hotels to score any goal in the last chukker and the match winded up with Sahara Warriors’ victory.
