After a week of intense polo matches the Sir Winston Churchill Cup concluded with two matches, the Subsidiary Final and the Final. Bangash won the final after defeating UAE Polo by 7 goals to 6 in an exciting match enjoyed by the polo picnic crowd sporting many well-known personalities at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club.

The Subsidiary final saw Habtoor Polo play against Mahra Polo in an intense match. The Habtoor Polo team gained the upper hand in the game from the opening chukka and stuck to their well thought and strong strategy, scoring 9-5 against Mahra Polo.

The final was a head to head fight, with the two strongest teams demonstrating the robustness and great skill. The last chukka saw both teams at a draw and with only two minutes left, Bangash scored their winning goal. Marco Foccacia walked away with the title Most Valuable Player of the tournament and the amazing Mision, played By Fede Von Petobsky, bred by MacDonough's at La Irenita Argentina was awarded the Best Playing Pony.

George John Godolphin Spencer Churchill, the Marquess of Blandford, grandson of Sir Winston Churchill, played in the Subsidiary final for Habtoor Polo. “I am pleased to know that my grandfather’s love for Polo is being celebrated”. Both teams have strong & eminent players, and it was an honor to play alongside them.” Mohammed K. Al Habtoor, CEO and Vice Chairman of Al Habtoor Group, British Ambassador, HE Philipp Parham and George all participated in the trophy ceremony, celebrating the winners and runners-up.

The tournament funding was by AHK, which was a huge success and the turnout was better than expected. Families got to enjoy the acclaimed Dubai winter weather and kids were content due to the activities conducted by the Kid Zone Nursery.
