The Hurlingham Polo Association Bryan Morrison Trophy arena match between USA and England took place on Saturday, March 3.
Traditionally played at the All England Polo Club in Hickstead, England, the match
relocated to Westcroft Park Polo Club in Chobham, due to severe weather
conditions and heavy snowfall.
England’s 9-goaler Chris Hyde started the proceedings with a goal, but USA responded with one of their own and the first chukker ended at 1-1. The chukker saw both teams score three more to make it 4-4 but the scoreboard was 8-all at the end of the second chukker. The third chukker saw England take the lead and it ended at 10-9 in their favour. England scored four more in the final chukker to win the match by 14-10 and with it the crystal trophy.
Shane Rice who defended amazingly was given the Most Valuable Player award.
The Best Playing Pony Award was given to Prada, owned by Richard Blake- Thomas and played by Chris Hyde in the fourth chukker.
