The newcomers GSA faced the high flying Valiente in the final match of the tournament and were ready to cause yet another upset in the Ylvisaker Cup. The final match took place on Sunday at the International Polo Palm Beach. Having lost to Valiente in the group stages, GSA had a shot at redemption, but couldn’t make it count as Valiente proved too strong yet again.

GSA started the scoring as Mariano Gonzalez took the ball straight into goal in the opening minutes of the match. Two goals at the end of the first chukker saw Valiente make it 2-1 in their favour. GSA made a comeback and were leading by 4-3 at halftime. Cambiaso inspired a comeback as Valiente scored two goals in the fourth chukker to make it 5-4 in their favour.
The final two chukkers belonged to Valiente as they scored thrice to win the match by 8 goals to 5. It was a fitting end to the tournament as it was an intense and gripping experience from the very first whistle till the last.

Adolfo Cambiaso was named Most Valuable Player as he scored six of Valiente’s eight goals. The Best Playing Pony honours were awarded to Macarena, played by Mariano Gonzalez.
