The first semi final of the Ylvisaker Cup featured the undefeated Team Tonkawa and probably the strongest side in the competition , Team Valiente.
The much anticipated match started off in the most offensive fashion as both teams ran riot on the polo ground , scoring 14 goals between them at halftime. Valiente maintained a four goal lead at halftime with the score being 9-5 in their favour.
Adolfo Cambiaso’s influence started showing as the final chukker approached. His team , Valiente powered through the remaining minutes and scored 13 goals in total against a mere 8 by Tonkawa. Team Valiente deservingly won the match by 13 goals to 8 and booked a place in the finals of the cup.
The second semi final was played between GSA and Colorado in a nail biting contest. The game was anyone’s for the taking as the scoreboard was 4-3 in favour of Colorado at halftime. In the second half, thanks to errors by Colorado , GSA managed to score through penalties and were just one goal behind by the final chukker.
And with just second to play , GSA scored another and took the game into overtime. With less than 15 seconds to play in the seventh chukker, GSA scored another to win the match by 9 goals to 8, thereby booking themselves a place in the finals of the Ylvisaker Cup, 2018.
