I AM A PERFECTIONIST: ZONDRA WILSON, FOUNDER BLU SKIN CARE
Zondra Wilson- Blue Skin Care Founder

Who does not wish to look young and beautiful all the time? And the best is when all of the beauty comes with natural ingredients, belief, and organic care. Literally, who wants a miss at that? Pursuing this very dream and vision, Zondra Wilson, with all her Grandma’s and Mom’s secrets embedded together founded Blu Skin Care. In a very candid way, Zondra Wilson opened up to LA POLO to unveil some of her skincare secrets. Here is a detailed insight into the same.

LA POLO: Skincare is the talk of the time, but how exactly did it come to you, more so, how did organic skin care come through your mind when everyone is talking of artificial stuff?

ZONDRA WILSON:
It came to me after years of being asked "What do you use on your skin”? My family is from the South and my mom and aunt would tell me stories about how they couldn't afford expensive skin care products and how they used natural ingredients like Olive and Coconut Oils. I noticed that their skin was so soft and smooth and had very few (if any) wrinkles. So, I tried using some of these ingredients and haven't looked back. You can't put a price tag on healthy, beautiful, and ageless skin. I am convinced I've found the fountain of youth. LOL!"

LA POLO: Who is Zondra? Apart from being the woman behind BLU SKIN CARE, who she is?

ZONDRA WILSON:
I’m a Christian woman on a mission for God. My true passion is teaching an online bible study class preparing Christian women for marriage. I love the Word of God, so it would be natural for my ministry to be in this area.

LA POLO: How is your product different from others, obviously it is organic, but how exactly is it going to benefit others? For instance, what is the “wow factor” of your range?

ZONDRA WILSON:
Blu Skin Care is made with the purest ingredients from the farms. There are only about 10 skin care lines that have the “USDA” certification the government. That alone makes our products unique. Our products are also edible because they can’t contain any harmful or processed ingredients. Don’t eat them though, We are so proud of that.

LA POLO: Any company starts with a dream and an aspiration, what was yours’ behind BLU SKIN CARE?

ZONDRA WILSON:
I dream that Blu Skin Care is recognized as the leader in healthy and organic skin care. There aren’t that many truly healthy skin care products on the market. Just think, how many skin care products can you eat? Again, don’t eat it. LOL

LA POLO: Why did you settle on the name BLU SKIN CARE? Is there any story behind it?

ZONDRA WILSON:
In the Bible, the color blue is sometimes associated with the commandments of God, the importance of remembering them, and also the heavenly calling of those who had been chosen by God to be His people (Numbers 15:38-40). Therefore, "Blu Skin Care" was the obvious name for the company.

LA POLO: Why is Skin Care so important? How would you describe skincare?

ZONDRA WILSON:
“Blu Skin Care” prides itself on sourcing the purest and most potent ingredients including organic in all of its formulations Our ingredients are plant-derived and formulated with botanicals. We are committed to all of our products being Non-GMO as well as nutritious for your skin and as close to 100% USDA-certified organic whenever possible.

LA POLO: Tell us something, no one knows, which makes who you are today.

ZONDRA WILSON:
I’m a perfectionist. I won’t start a project unless I know I complete it to the best of my ability.

*QUICK TIPS*

● Tip for the best skin
Resist the temptation to touch your face.

This is a very important step. You can transfer countless bacteria from your hands to your face just by simply touching them. Dirt can get trapped in your pores and then it can lead to a cluster of very unattractive pimples. If you have to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water - or use a face towel. The oil-absorbent paper also works well, but only use it one time, or you'll transfer the oil and dirt back to your face, which won't do anything to make your skin better.

Determine your skin type and buy skin care products to suit your skin type.
This is an incredibly important step because if you buy products that aren't appropriate for your skin, they will be incredibly ineffective, and may worsen the situation. You should also take into consideration specific issues that your skin has, such as acne.

Never pick, squeeze or pop your pimple no matter how tempting it is
It hurts more, looks worse, and eventually may leave behind an ugly scar. Simply, it won't do anything to make your skin better. It just makes it WORSE.

● What is the best morning and night skin routine?

Cleanse, tone, and moisturize twice a day - once in the morning before you put on makeup, and once at night before you go to bed.

This will give your skin a chance to heal and breathe overnight rather than being clogged by dirt or makeup. It's easiest to do this when in the shower as it makes rinsing easier, but if you are only washing your face, here's how to do it:

1. First, wash your hands so you won't be transferring bacteria to your face.
2..Wet your skin with warm water to open up your pores. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upward, circular motions. Some products will work best if you leave them for a minute or so to allow them to dissolve dirt and makeup and to let them get deep into your pores. During this time, continue to gently rub the cleanser in.
3..Then remove, either with damp cotton pads, using a sponge, or by splashing with warm water, gently wiping until ALL the cleanser is removed. Never leave any cleanser on your face, as this encourages irritation, spots, and imperfections.
4..Finish off by rinsing your skin with cold water to close up the pores and prevent dirt from getting back into them, therefore preventing blemishes. It will also leave you looking more fresh-faced and less red.
5..Dry your face gently by dabbing it with a clean towel or paper towel. Dirty towels transfer hundreds of bacteria onto your skin which can lead to imperfections.

A few minutes after cleansing, tone your face with toner and a cotton pad.
Toner is used to restoring your skin's natural pH levels which were probably altered during cleansing. By restoring your skin to its natural pH, you also make it more resistant to bacteria and microorganisms. There are many different types of toner out there, some simply restore your skin's PH, and others also kill bacteria, or leave spot-fighting ingredients on your skin. Look around the shops for one to suit your skin type. It's essential for people who have an oily skin type. If you don't have an oily skin type, choose the one that's designed to be sensitive. Here's how to use it.

1. Apply a small amount of toner to a cotton pad and simply wipe over your entire face, but be careful to avoid the sensitive eye area.
2. Do not rinse off!

So after cleansing and toning, you should moisturize with a face moisturizer for your skin type.
This step can NOT be avoided, even if you have an oily skin type.
1..When the toner is dried, apply a small blob of moisturizer, gently massaging in a circular motion into your face and neck.
2..If you haven't applied enough moisturizer and your skin still feels a little tight, then apply a bit more. If you apply too much and it feels too oily, then gently blot it with some tissue.
3..Some people also like to use a separate moisturizer that is designed for the eye area to prevent aging or swelling.

Once or twice a week, in place of your daily cleanser, you should exfoliate with an exfoliating facial wash.
Make sure that it's nothing too harsh, it shouldn't feel like sandpaper on your skin. Exfoliator is essential because it removes dead skin cells which can leave your complexion appearing dull and can clog up pores.

1..Remove makeup first, then gently massage the exfoliator in outward circular motions for half a minute. Don't scrub too hard, be gentle. You're only trying to remove the dead skin, not a whole layer of skin!
2..If using an exfoliating washcloth, soak the washcloth in warm water and rub the washcloth in small circles on your face.
3..Make sure that you get into the creases by your nose which often gets clogged up and develops blackheads.

● What is the one skin product that you always carry with you and why?
I always keep my moisturizer. Our USDA Certified Organic Whipped Coconut Green Tea Moisturizer is great not only great for moisturizing the face, but it also helps relieve and heal the discomfort of cuts, bruises, and insect bites! I love it.

● Your most reliable skin routine and product
The Organic Oat-Flax Facial Cleanser is not only our best-selling product but our most used product by our customers when they travel. Our customers love it because it’s a powder and they don’t have to worry about the liquid limitation that TSA requires.

● One piece of advice for all age groups
Drink plenty of water, eat healthily and exercise. This is a surefire way to stay younger looking...longer.
