The tenth Manipur Polo International 2016 began at the historic Mapal Kangjeibung (Imphal Polo ground) with a spectacular cultural programme. It was organised as a part of the Manipur Sangai tourism festival with four international teams participating in the tournament.
The Semi Finals of the 10th Manipur Polo International, 2016 took place on November 26th.
USA and India-B gained victories against their respective rivals during the match of the ongoing 10th Manipur Polo International 2016. In the one-sided first match of the day, Lucas Reid brought the turning point for the USA team as he notched six goals in the team’s 11-4 thrashing of India-A.
It was Beau Blundell of the USA who opened the scoring for the team in the last 3 minute and 13 seconds of the 1st chukker. George Krabbe grabbed a treble (1st, 2nd and 4th chukker).The most of the USA’s goals came from Lucas Reid who scored one each in the first, second and fourth chukker, and three in the third chukker.
Ryan Cronin-Prather contributed one in the US’ defeat of India-A. The goals for India-A were scored by Capt Narender (2nd chukker), Mahesh Kumar (two in the third chukker) and S Abungcha in the third chukker.
The second match of the day saw India-B (Manipur) thrashing Kenya 9-1. P Ojit grabbed a hat trick (two in the first and one in the third chukker) while M Jawan hit a hat trick (two in the third and one in the fourth chukker). T Ranjit, T Pradeep and S Bimol scored a goal each for the Manipur team in the second, third and fourth chukker respectively. The only goal for Kenya was struck by Peugene Ngumbao in the third chukker.
England and Australia played the first semi final of the 10th Manipur Polo International 2016 at Mapal Kangjeibung. Australia beat England (6-3) in the Semi finals to play against the Winner of the USA and India B (Manipur).
England entered the Semi finals by defeating USA and India A while USA earned a berth in the Semi finals by defeating India A.
