The official presentation of the 124th Argentine open HSBC Polo Championship at the Plaza del Obelisco in Buenos Aires. Following the Tortugas Open and Hurlingham Open, the third and final part of Argentine Triple Crown was played in the mecca of polo, at the stadium of Palermo.
The first tournament was held on 4th November, and will see 10 teams battle it out for the coveted title for the finals to be held on 2nd of December. It’s going to be an interesting affair between the teams in one of the most important competitions in polo history.
The tournament has featured 2 zones namely zone A and zone B, out of which the winners of each zone would go head to head on the final which is scheduled to take place on 2nd December. The ball was set rolling for the first match on November 4 between La Irenita and Las Esquina Los Machitos, with La Irenita scoring total to 30.
The sunny afternoon of 5th of November that lead to the second day for the match (first for zone B) between Cuesta Yatay Colony and Chapaleufu Cardon where the former won by 18-8 and partially blurred the new record set by brothers Eduardo and Alberto Heguy. Meanwhile for court 1, Alegria Land Rover beat LD La Dolphina Polo Ranch by 17 to 12.
Due to new rules making the Triple Crown a more dynamic affair, the gap between matches will be slightly longer, so that spectators have the chance to enjoy every aspect of Palermo. The biggest point of highlight about this Argentine Open is that ticket prices will be same as they were in 2016 i.e. for 200 pesos.
Starting from the energetic matches for the tournament we are expecting for a great finale to be held next month.
