Argentine Triple Crown: 131st Abierto De Hurlingham (31-40 Goal Tournament)

All eyes glanced in high anticipation towards the best polo players in the world on the beautiful ground of Hurlingham Polo Club. All eight teams wanted to be under the raised trophy, but only one was about to live their dreams. Most polo admirers enjoyed the thrill firsthand, but if you didn’t, accompany us on this exciting journey to reach our crowned champions.

With each passing match, the tournament moved towards its crucial stages. Here are the games with all-in stages at this coveted tournament. 

Qualy 1: La Natividad vs La Hache Cria & Polo 

Date: 24 September 

In the first game of the tournament, La Natividad announced their commanding arrival against La Hache Cria & Polo. This opening game was a goal-scoring festival, and the former team made opponents’ dozen goals look like a joke! La Natividad scored goals from every corner, bringing their total score to 27, which was the highest in the entire tournament.

Winners: La Natividad ( 27-12 )

Qualy 2: La Hache vs Cria La Dolfina 

The second game was held on the same day between La Hache and Cria La Dolfina. La Hache were favourites going into the game, and they proved their worth in their very first match. Both teams looked evenly matched in the first two rounds, but thereafter, La Hache completely took the game away, developing a massive lead and maintaining it throughout the end of time. 

Winners: La Hache ( 20-12 )

Qualy 3: La Dolfina Saudi vs Indios Chapaleufu 

Date: 25 September 

The next game presented us with the teams of La Dolfina Saudi and Indios Chapaleufu. After a dominating display from the previous teams, La Dolfina Saudi were next in line for making their fans proud. Not only did they score almost two dozen goals, but their defensive prowess looked supreme too. After the first round, it was a walk in the park for the favourites, and they completely destroyed their opponents.

Winners: La Dolfina Saudi ( 23-9 )

Qualy 4: Ellerstina UAE Yellow Rose vs La Ensenada

The last and probably the closest game of all league matches was held between Ellerstina UAE Yellow Rose and La Ensenada. Up until the first couple of rounds, both teams went back and forth with the goals, but things took a turn after then. Ellerstina UAE Yellow Rose embraced aggression and started smashing goals, which helped them gain a comfortable lead, pushing them over the finish line. 

Winners: Ellerstina UAE Yellow Rose ( 19-12 )

Semi-Final 1(Drysdale): Cria La Dolfina vs La Hache Cria & Polo 

Date: 28 September 

The bell rang, and both teams, Cria La Dolfina and La Hache Cria & Polo, were off with their horses in an attempt to score first and have the upper hand; Cria smashed four goals in the first round in an attempt to do so. They had a great lead in the first half of the game, but things quickly started to turn around in the last four rounds, where La Hache Cria & Polo tried to come back but fell a little short despite having a couple of great rounds in between. 

Winners: Cria La Dolfina ( 16-14 )

Semi-Final 1: La Natividad vs La Hache 

Date: 28 September 

On the same day, we had an intriguing contest between La Natividad and La Hache for the main cup. The game looked pretty even by the end of the second last chukker, but La Natividad was here to win, so they smashed the ball to score three goals in the last chukker, confirming their victory. 

Winners: La Natividad ( 14-11 )

Semi-Final 2(Drysdale): La Ensenada vs Indios Chapaleufu 

Date: 29 September 

The second semi-final for the side cup was played between La Ensenada and Indios Chapaleufu. This was one of the highest-scoring games; both teams gave each other a run for their money. La Ensenada had a great start, scoring four goals in the first round, but Indios Chapaleufu was able to almost even the scores by the end of the fifth round. Henceforth, La Ensenada dominated the sixth and eighth chukker, which made their win possible.

Winners: La Ensenada ( 18-16 )

Semi-Final 2: La Dolfina Saudi vs Ellerstina Uae Yellow Rose 

Date: 29 September 

In the second semi-final for the main cup, La Dolfina Saudi faced Ellerstina Uae Yellow Rose. With 35 goals scored, this game was an edge-of-the-seat thriller. The former team started well and had a lead by the end of four chukkers, but soon things took a turn. Ellerstina UAE was able to level the scores, and the game went into overtime. During overtime, La Dolfina Saudi snatched away the game and bashed the deciding goal into the opponent’s post. 

Winners: La Dolfina Saudi ( 18-17 )

Final(Drysdale): La Ensenada vs Cria La Dolfina 

Date: 4 October 

The final for Drysdale was held between La Ensenada and Cria La Dolfina. The initial three chukkers were enough for La Ensenada to completely burden the opposite side with a massive goal lead, being ahead by seven points. Despite performing quite well in the fifth round, Cria La Dolfina couldn’t keep up the scoring and was four points behind when the final bell rang. 

Winners: La Ensenada ( 15-11 )

Final: La Natividad vs La Dolfina Saudi

Date: 5 October 

Finally, the time arrived for two powerhouses, La Natividad and La Dolfina Saudi, to face one another for this prestigious title. It was a close encounter, but not from the start. By the end of the third round, La Natividad had a massive lead, but La Dolfina Saudi could cope with it and levelled the score by the end of the seventh chukker. In the eighth chukker, both teams played defensively, but La Natividad could sneak a goal and write this year’s cup to their names. 

Winners: La Natividad ( 13-12 )
