Cartier Queen’s Cup 2017 Kickstarts With Two Exciting Matches

The Cartier Queen’s Cup kick started with two exciting matches on 23rd May 2017. The first day witnessed two matches:

King Power Foxes against Sifani at Billingbear.

El Remanso against Talandracas at the Guards Polo Club.

League Two: King Power Foxes 15 – 11 Sifani at Billingbear

First up were 2015 winners King Power Foxes vs Hilali Noordeen’s Sifani. The first one to score for Sifani was Guillermo Terrera, followed by Julian de Lusarreta and Clarkin, taking the score to 5-0 at the end of the first chukka. King Power Foxes dominated in the second chukka, with goals from Srivaddhanaprabha and Facundo Pieres reducing the gap to 5-4 goals at the end of the second chukka.

King Power Foxes gradually pulled away in the remaining chukkas. Although King Power defeated Sifani, 15-11, but Sifani with their power play performance managed to signal that they are a team to be reckoned with in 2017.

Team:

King Power Foxes-22 : Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha-1, TBC-1, Gonzalo Pieres-10, Facundo Pieres-10

Sifani-21 : Hilali Noordeen-0, Guillermo Terrera-8, Julian de Lusarreta-7, Jeronimo del Carril-6.

League One: El Remanso 13 – 10 Talandracas at Guards Polo Club

Charlie Hanbury’s El Remanso defeated Edouard Carmignac’s Talandracas, winners of the 2011 Queen’s Cup, 13-10, on The Queen’s Ground. El Remanso dominated the first half of the match and scored 8 – 3 up at half-time, however failed to score in the second. Talandracas has some great pony power and this year is fielding the former El Remanso star Pelon Stirling, one of five 10-goalers in this year’s tournament. So it was not a surprise to see Talandracas haul themselves back into this game in the second half, but it was not enough to get themselves ahead of El Remanso today.

Team:

El Remanso-21: Charlie Hanbury-4, Ollie Cudmore-5, James Beim-6, James Harper-6.

Talandracas-22 : Edouard Carmignac-0, Jack Hyde-3, Guillermo Caset-9, David Stirling-10.

Day 2 of the tournament, 24th May, will also witness two matches:

La Indiana v Monterosso Polo Team at Coworth Park at 12 noon.

Murus Sanctus v RH Polo at Guards Polo Club at 3 pm.
