Copa de Bronce Bionesta – ¡CALIENTE!

A blitzkrieg of three tournaments was unleashed in all its glory for the 54th edition of the Copa de Bronce Bionesta at Sotogrande in sunny Spain!

La Polo brings you highlights from the exciting tournament, which featured three levels of play – high goal, medium goal and low goal, with coinciding cups- Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Qualifier: Legacy Polo Team vs Adrenalina/Dany’s Polo

Date: 31 July 

Polo fans were captivated by the intense face-off between Legacy and Adrenalina/Dany’s Polo. The latter looked in control initially in the first half of the game. However, the game took a sharp turn in the fourth chukker when Legacy Polo smashed in four goals, which led to their consequent victory.

Winners: Legacy Polo Team ( 10-9 )

Qualifier: La Capilla vs Polo Valley

Another treat to watch was a contest between La Capilla and Polo Valley. Dominating from the very beginning, Guy Charloux and Estanislao Grahn scored four goals each, carrying their team (La Capilla) over the finish line. 

Winners: La Capilla ( 10-7 )

Final: Legacy Polo Team vs Hartog 

Date: 2 August 

Legacy Polo Team clashed with Hartog in a display of top-tier talent. Bautista Riglos hit his stride in this game, dominating the field. Scoring a phenomenal 10 goals, he single-handedly dominated Hartog. Hartog tried desperately to make a comeback, but they were in a race against time. The final bell declared Legacy Polo the undisputed champions of the 6-8 goal Copa De Bronce Bionesta!

Qualifier: Electric Polo vs Santa Quiteria/Mondragon 

Date: 30 July 

Competition intensified with Electric Polo getting ready to face Santa Quiteria/Mondragon. Mondragon’s teamwork was just enough to keep them ahead by halftime. Electric Polo staged a fourth-chukker comeback, gave little away, and ended their campaign on a winning note.

Winners: Electric Polo ( 10-7 )

Qualifier: Muda Iz Polo vs Brunei Polo Team 

A high-scoring feast for the eyes was a game between Muda Iz Polo and the Brunei Polo Team. From going point-less in the first round to four in another, the game was a roller coaster for Muda Iz Polo. Both teams were locked in a stalemate going into the final chukker. But Mida Iz Polo, or rather Facundo Sola, turned the tables and scored a whopping 11 goals to earn a golden ticket to the finale!  

Winners: Muda Iz Polo ( 11-10 )

Final: Muda Iz Polo vs John Smith 

Date: 1 August 

Muda Iz Polo was one win shy of the championship. Their final challenge against John Smith’s team saw Facundo Sola and Ciro Urturi dominate every chukker. Earning yet another MVP title, Facundo Sola gifted his team this year’s title of the 12-14 goal Copa De Bronce Bionesta.

Qualifier: Black Bears vs Calatagan Polo Team 

Date: 30 July 

Black Bears and Calatagan clashed in a fierce, unyielding battle. Pablo Pieres (Calatagan Polo Team) scored multiple goals, managing to end the first half with a lead. However, his lone efforts crumbled against the phenomenal teamwork of the Black Bears. Eventually, snatching away the lead, the Black Bears registered the highest goals of the tournament. 

Winners: Black Bears ( 15-11 )

Qualifier: Les Lions/Sainte Mesme vs Dos Lunas

Les Lions/Sainte Mesme battled Dos Lunas in a match that acted as the perfect rehearsal for the finals. Les Lions charged ahead relentlessly, netting goals with every push. Antonio Heguy (Dos Lunas), not receiving any support from teammates, lost despite being the highest-scoring player.

Winners: Les Lions/Sainte Mesme ( 13-9 )

Final: Les Lions/Sainte Mesme vs Amanara

Date: 2 August 

Les Lions/Sainte Mesme and Amanara made the ultimate run for the trophy, delivering a final worthy of the 20-22 Copa de Bronce Bionesta’s finest moments! The intensity of the rivalry was evident as almost every chukker concluded in a deadlock! With no winner after six chukkers, the match extended into overtime. Les Lions/Sainte Mesme delivered a magical goal to secure the 2025 20-22 Copa de Bronce Bionesta title.

Winners: Les Lions/Sainte Mesme ( 9-8 )
