Sahara Warriors and Polo Heritage emerge as winners on Day 1 of Rajputana & Central India Cup

Rajputana & Central India Cup, the first 10-goal tournament of the 19th Jodhpur Polo Season kicked off on 20th December at Maharaja Gaj Singh Sports Foundation Polo Ground, Jodhpur. The first match of the tournament and the day was played between Sahara Warriors and Polo Factory at 2 pm. The team composition of the match was as follows:

The umpires for the match were Alejandro Manuel Roldan and Angad Kalaan and the referee for the match was Dhruvpal Godara. The match was head to head in the first half but 2 goals each from Simran Singh Shergill and Siddhant Sharma in the third chukker put Sahara Warriors ahead in the game. The first chukker kicked off with a goal from Simran Singh Shergill. The score was 1-0 when Abhimanyu Pathak scored a goal for Polo Factory and leveled the scores. The chukker was in its dying minutes when Siddhant Sharma scored a goal in favor of Sahara Warriors and put them ahead again. The first chukker ended on 2-1.

Abhimanyu Pathak was in great form in the second chukker as he scored 3 goals in the chukker in favor of Polo Factory. The second chukker was quite interesting and intense as both the teams scored an ample amount of goals. 3 goals from Abhimanyu Pathak for Polo Factory and a goal from Simran Singh Shergill accounted for the goals scored in the second chukker. Polo Factory was leading at the end of the first half by 4-3.

The third chukker witnessed 4 goals in favor of Sahara Warriors and a goal in favor of Polo Factory. Siddhant Sharma and Simran Singh Shergill scored two goals each in the third chukker for Sahara Warriors and put them ahead with a great lead. Abhimanyu Pathak scored the only goal of the chukker for Polo Factory. The score at the end of the third chukker was 7-5 with Sahara Warriors in the lead. The only goal of the last chukker was scored by Simran Singh Shergill. Sahara Warriors won the match by 8-5.

Chandna Cavalry Polo vs Polo Heritage

The second match of the day saw Chandna Cavalry Polo go head to head against Polo Heritage Polo team. Playing in white, Polo Heritage scored all the three goals of the first chukker. Chandna Cavalry Polo played in black and was not able to score in the first chukker. The team composition was :

Dhruvpal Godara scored two goals in the first chukker and Emilio Urrea Kirby scored a goal for Polo Heritage.Chandna Cavalry Polo was goalless after the first chukker. The score was 3-0 after the first chukker with Polo Heritage in the lead. The second chukker witnessed a goal from each side and the score was 4 – 1 after the second chukker. Dhruvpal Godara scored for Polo Heritage while Col Ravi Rathore was the scorer for Chandna Cavalry Polo team. Polo Heritage was leading by 4 – 1 after the first half. The third chukker opened with a goal from Col Ravi Rathore for Chandna Cavalry Polo. 2 goals were scored in favor of Chandna/Cavalry Polo and 1 for Polo Heritage which was scored by Dhruvpal Godara. Ashok Chandna scored the second goal for Chandna Cavalry Polo team. The score was 5 – 3 at the end of Chukker 3. Both the teams scored a goal each in the last chukker and the match ended at 6 – 4. Polo Heritage won the match against Chandna Cavalry Polo team.
