Delhi Polo with Col Girdhari Singh Memorial Cup (6 Goal)

Packed with action, some days saw as many as three matches, showcasing the players’ unmatched skill and endurance. Here’s a closer look at how the tournament unfolded and built up to its grand finale.

Match 1: Vimal Arion Achievers vs Achievers 

Date: 26 November 

The tournament kicked off with a contest between Vimal Arion Achievers and Achievers. Both teams tried to achieve their first win to get a head start. The former team, however, had an extra goal handy at the end of time, which they scored at a crucial time, helping them win this close encounter.

Winner: Vimal Arion Achievers ( 6-5 )

Match 2: Jindal Panther vs Mayfair Polo 

Date: 27 November 

The second day presented us with three games. The first was a high-scoring, quality game between Jindal Panther and Mayfair Polo. Jindal Panther focused on being aggressive in this game, and Mayfair Polo could keep up with their scoring, too, not allowing the match to be one-sided. However, Jindal Panther kept scoring ruthlessly, and eventually, Mayfair Polo lost its grip on the game by a couple of points. 

Winner: Jindal Panther (10-8)

Match 3: Army Green vs Army Red 

The next game was between Army Green and Army Red. It was yet another edge-of-the-seat thriller where the game’s outcome was decided just by a single point. Army Green handled this pressure better and made that magical goal happen, leading them to victory.

Match 4: Vimal Arion Achievers vs Delta Polo 

The Vimal Arion Achievers carried the momentum from their first tournament win, quickly settling into the rhythm of the game. With a dominant performance, they scored over half a dozen goals, leaving Delta Polo trailing by a couple of points, unable to close the gap.

Winner: Vimal Arion Achievers ( 7-5 )

Match 5: Jindal Panther vs Army Red

Date: 28 November 

The third day featured carefully curated matchups among six teams, starting with a clash between Jindal Panther and Army Red. This game highlighted the impact of experience and higher handicaps in polo. Jindal Panther delivered a dominant performance, decisively overpowering Army Red by scoring more than a dozen goals, securing an effortless victory.

Match 6: Mayfair Polo vs Army Green 

The sixth league game featured Mayfair Polo and Army Green. This game started off in favor of Army Green, but Mayfair Polo quickly turned things around, making it another one-sided game by consecutively scoring goals and ending up with almost twice the number of points as the Army Green team scored. 

Winner: Mayfair Polo ( 8-4.5 )

Match 7: Delta Polo vs Achievers 

Both teams, having lost their initial league games, were eager for redemption in this crucial match. Playing with caution and strategy, they delivered a nail-biting contest that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. In the end, Delta Polo clinched victory by scoring the decisive goal in the final round.

Winner: Delta Polo ( 6-5 )

Semi-Final 1: Delta Polo vs Jindal Panther 

Date: 30 November 

Both teams had performed exceptionally to reach this point, making it a close and hard-fought battle. Delta Polo was the one that was able to hold its position pretty well and control the ball during the initial stages, but pretty soon, Jindal Panther was back in the game and equalized the scores to six each. In the extra round, Delta Polo scored the finishing blow, winning this nail-biter event to qualify for the finals. 

Winner: Delta Polo (7-6)

Semi-Final 2: Mayfair Polo vs Vimal Arion Achievers 

The second semifinal was between Mayfair Polo and Vimal Arion Achievers. This game was even bigger and better than the previous one, with 19 goals scored overall. Both teams battled neck-to-neck and had the same scores (9 each) when the bell rang. The game went into an extra round, and Mayfair Polo hit the final nail in the coffin by making the magical goal, which gave them their ticket to the finals.

Final: Mayfair Polo vs Delta Polo 

Date: 1 December 

The finals brought together the tournament’s two standout teams, Mayfair Polo and Delta Polo, in a thrilling showdown. Delta Polo started strong, securing a two-point lead by the end of the third round and appearing to be in control. However, Mayfair Polo refused to back down, launching a fierce comeback in the final chukker with three goals to level the scores. Ultimately, Mayfair Polo triumphed, claiming this year’s prestigious Col Girdhari Singh Memorial Cup.
