11th January
In soaring spirits the first day saw the outstanding teams of Los Polistas and NV Polo coming face to face once again after their rollercoaster match of the Maharaj Prem Singh Cup. Representing Los Polistas this time were Jayvirsingh Gohil, Hurr Ali, Kuldeep Singh and H.H. Padmanabh Singh. For NV Polo Nimit Mehta, Capt. Arvind Pal Singh, Sunny Patel and Gonzalo Yanzon played. This time Los Polistas wasted no minute and garnered 3 goals within the first chukker itself. The terrific H.H. Sawai Padmanabh Singh and Hurr Ali left no stone unturned in the second chukker and scored 4 goals in the second chukker for Los Polistas.
Although NV Polo tried to keep up with better defense yet Los Polistas was on a roll and through the combined teamwork of Hurr Ali, Jayvirsingh Gohil and Kuldeep Singh bought about 9 goals for Los Polistas in the last chukker leading them to victory against 1.5 by NV Polo.
The second match of the day saw Dynamix Achievers and MD Polo finalists of the previous Cup face off once again. Dynamix Achievers were represented by players: Vishwarupe Bajaj, Shyam Mehta, Shamsheer Ali and Daniel Otamendi. MD Polo was represented by players: Rahul Dwarkadas, Dinyar Madon, Gaurav Sahgal and Simran S. Shergill.
The awaited match was filled with exciting defense, attacks and timely maneuvers through and through. Starting off Shyam Mehta and Shamsheer Ali gathered two goals collectively in the first chukker after which the virtuoso Shamsheer Ali was persistent. Although MD Polo scored 2 goals yet the fiery duo Daniel Otamendi and Shamsheer Ali continued gathering score after score for Dynamix Achievers especially with the penalty shots leading them to victory with 7 goals.
12th January
In the heat of the day Mayfair Polo/61st Cavalry contested for the Cup against NV Polo. Playing for the Mayfair Polo/61st Cavalry team were Anay Singh, Maj. Aman Singh, Siddhant Sharma and Dhruvpal Godara.
The ace Dhruvpal Godara and Maj. Aman Singh started off the game with fervor gathering 3 goals in the first chukker for Mayfair/ 61st Cavalry. Although Nimit Mehta and Sunny Patel put up a great fight yet in the end Mayfair Polo/61st Cavalry won by a neck to neck score of 5 goals against 4.5.
Later in the day, MD Polo and V Polo scrawled with Monique Van Haarst, Zahan Kapoor, Naveen Singh and Samir Suhag representing the latter. For MD Polo Simran S. Shergill continuously grappled goal after goal leading up to a total of 8 goals alongside Gaurav Sahgal against the 2.5 goals of V Polo.
13th January
To kick start the third day Los Polistas and Mayfair Polo/61st Cavalry faced off with H.H. Sawai Padmanabh Singh and Siddhant Sharma going head to head majority of the match.
With equilibrium of hits and defense it was impossible to predict how the match would turn out yet in the end the teamwork of Jayvirsingh Gohil and H.H. Sawai Padmanabh Singh was fruitful. Los Polistas won with a close 5 goals against 4 goals.
15th January
The qualifiers saw Mayfair Polo/61st Cavalry and Dynamix Achievers face off for the first position in the finals. With everyone on the edge of their seats this match was unpredictable from start to finish. One thing that remained consistent was the epic coordination of Shamsheer Ali and Daniel Otamendi.
With every chukker they continuously defended and scored shots adding to a collective 6 goals for Dynamix Achievers against 3 goals of Mayfair Polo/61st Cavalry.
Later that day, Los Polistas and MD Polo tussled to reach the second spot in the finals against Dynamix Achievers. Bringing the heat Simran S. Shergill gathered two goals in the first chukker for MD Polo. In retaliation the duo H.H. Sawai Padmanabh Singh and Kuldeep Singh put up an impregnable defense and attack for the second and third chukker leading to a tie by the fourth chukker. In the end Gaurav Sahgal scored for the extra chukker leading MD Polo into victory with 5 goals against 4 goals of Los Polistas.
16th January
The climactic finals of the Cup left everyone on the pitch gaping at the exciting highs and lows of the day. Both Dynamix Achievers and MD Polo came in with a passion as never before ready to conquer.
In the first chukker the action seemed one sided with the wonderful partnership of Shyam Mehta, Shamsheer Ali and Daniel Otamendi scoring 5 goals. Then Simran S. Shergill girded himself with utmost determination and kept scoring for the next three chukkers a total of 5 goals.
It was in the third chukker that Shamsheer Ali collected 3 goals and alongside Shyam Mehta’s final score they victoriously finished at an astounding 11 goals against 6 goals.
