Joint Winners Of The RPC Cup 2019

Jaipur Polo Season- September 2019 started with the race to win the RPC Cup, in which 10 teams participated, starting from September 9 and were decisive on September 15 with KCR and Sahara Warriors lifting the trophy jointly. It proved to be a thrilling tournament both for the players and spectators – who came from all age groups to witness the match, cheering and praying for their favourite teams to win. The green carpet of both the grounds- RPC and Cavalry- willingly welcomed the polo season and proved to be fruitful for both the winning teams. From the very beginning, KCR and Sahara Warriors presented an example of great teamwork and partnership between the players who did not miss an opportunity to get the goal and make their opponents weaker by every match paving their way towards the final of the tournament. It was a clear depiction of their hard work and homework which did not let them fumble and helped remain undefeated till the end. All the teams which played for the RPC Cup displayed a remarkable performance but unfortunately September Season 2019 was not in their favour, but it will not be wrong to mention Gerardo Mazzini, Simran Shergill, Bhawani Kalvi, Samir Suhag and Kuldeep Singh, who among others performed well for their teams, giving a strong tiff to the teams, who despite that, remained undefeated and made it to the final.

Fighting from the side of KCR we had – Vinay, Allan, Maj. Aman Singh, Basheer Ali and Humza Ali ; while Sahara Warriors had – Mayurdhwaj Singh, Anirudh Mawaji, Daniel Oatmendi, HH Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh. Four teams qualified for the semi-finals to be fought on September 14 at the RPC ground. Two matches were scheduled at 4:00 & 5:00 p.m. The first match had Sahara Warriors battling against Jindal Panthers, in which the partnership of Daniel Oatmendi and Padmanabh Singh along with the support and backing of their team secured maximum goals and defeated Jindal Panthers with a score of 7-3. The second match saw a close combat between KCR and Cavaliers, where Humza Ali secured maximum goals for KCR making it victorious with a score of 10 against 7.5 by Cavaliers ; getting Sahara Warriors and KCR to fight the final match which was to be held on September 15 at the RPC ground, followed by the award ceremony.

On September 15, the weather turned its back on polo, as it started to rain heavily from early morning itself, leaving the coming two days unfavourable for the sport. Unfortunately, it was a sad day for all polo lovers who were following all the matches and were eager to witness the final, deciding match for the RPC Cup 2019. As a result, after consulting both the teams battling for the trophy and the tournament committee, it was decided that both – KCR and Sahara Warriors- will be declared as joint winners for the tournament.

Both the teams were required to be present for the award ceremony on the evening of 15 September 2019 where the two joint winners lifted the trophy, registering success in their names for RPC Cup 2019.
