An italian born jewellery artist, marine biologist and a writer of the books that tell stories of ocean creatures, recites her experience of marine life and her inspiration behind the stylish and vintage jewellery. Her jewellery has a vibe of ‘earthly’ in it which is delineated in every depth of the particle.
Maddalena Bearzi born in an italian artistic family, since childhood had curiosity and fascination of knowing animals and other wild creatures. Her wildest dream was to travel world and uncover the secrets of ocean life. She traveled around the world conducting fields research and methods of conservation of dolphins, whales and other aquatic life. Her profound respect for wilderness and irresistible temptation towards nature, interest in her expressing the natural material in a different way, passion for environment-friendly materials, inquisitiveness to different cultures, different mechanisms of ocean life and dedication towards her dreams paved her way out to Maddalena Bearzi Organic and One-of-a-kind to become eminent and legendary jewellery brand all over the world.



THE JEWELLERY SEEMED TO BE EVOLVED OUT OF DREAMS TO TRANSLATE INTO NATURAL ORNAMENT
When asked about her favourite, closest inventions Maddalena replies “The Ba-Lena(“whale” in english) jewellery series is the closest to my heart”. A whale diving freely into the open ocean stimulated her passion to create this unique, organic looking handmade collection that is also a statement against whales and dolphins being kept in a captivity. Thousand of hours at sea in company of whales and dolphins, she began to know them by sight, and gradually they became her family, an integral part of her life. She learnt their needs, not only for space but also companionship, and she witnessed their fluid, complex societies which in a lot of ways resembles our own. That is why Ba-Lena necklaces, bracelets and rings are her favourite of all her inventions.
THE WOMAN WITH THE MAJESTIC VISION
An italian jewellery artist, marine biologist and a writer. Born in verona, Italy, Maddalena began to pursue her passion and interest in jewellery on her own terms and studied metalsmithing at the university of California, Los Angeles. Also a photojournalist and a painter her inspiration for her jewellery also came from her designs. Later she resorted to the techniques of the famous jeweller Gordon Wainwright and from world recognized jewellery artist Harold O’Connor. Her works have always been at perks in the various art shows and galleries. She holds a Ph.D. in Biology and works as a president of research and environment non-profit Ocean conservation society. She studied the life of whales, dolphins and other marine organism for 25 years and has published two books: Beautiful Minds: The Parallel Lives Of Great Apes and Dolphins and Dolphin Confidential: Confessions Of a Field Biologist. Maddalena alos write various blogs for several publications, including the National Geographic- Voices: Ideas and Insights from Explorers. Her studio is based in Los Angeles, California.
