Octagonic Teams For The Day | Cavalry Gold Cup

The Day 3 of Cavalry Gold Cup was divided into four matches that were played back to back and also simultaneously. The day was brought alive on AEC Ground where the four matches were divided into Ground I and II. Stay connected with LA POLO to know the complete updates

With Vikram Rathore checking with the team players of Rajnigandha Achievers, the players were pumped up with a distinctive energy for the match. While the team Lancers got into a quick warm session, the scoreboard suggested an advantage of 2 goals in their favor, following the rules of IPA.
At sharp 2:53pm, the umpires called for the teams came down and within no time the ball was rolled towards the goal post by Basheer Ali but was slightly missed. This was although smoothly complimented by Sawai Padmanbh Singh’s first goal for his team. Getting back into action once again, both the teams targeted towards their goals. With this the field was sounded up with the timer and call for half time of the chukker signalling at the change of horses.
Resuming back into play Daniel took a long shot passing it towards his team at which Pacho grabbed the grip of the ball and took it towards the goal post but was attacked by Team Lancers Cdr AP Singh. Taking yet another chance, Pacho once again seized the ball from the opponents and in a long shot tried to turn the opportunity into a goal but still missed shortly. Although, the umpire soon called for penalty in favor of Rajnigandha Achievers. This was taken forward by Daniel Otamendi, but was unfortunately missed. Nevertheless, the loophole of the play in team Lancers game gave them another chance for a penalty shot. At this, Daniel from Rajnigandha Achievers turned a 60 yard penalty shot into a goal. Moving ahead in the game, the match started to get competitive and just in the dying 14 seconds, Basheer Ali grabbed the ball and seized the third goal of the match.

The second chukker began with Rajnigandha Achieves and Lancers in full spirit. In a tough and congested fashion of the play, the match remained at one corner of the ground where Basheer Ali with all his knowledge smoothly took a splendid shot. This then brought the game in a more heated spat and as Pacho started to go towards his team he received a good shot and taking it all through the field he scored another goal for his team. This was soon followed by two back to back goals from Basheer Ali.

The third chukker started off with the call of the hooter and within no time, Basheer Ali scored the eighth goal for his team. This was quickly followed by a 30 yard penalty shot in favor of Rajnigandha Achievers again taken by Basheer Ali. By the time the chukker reached the half time, Rajnigandha Achievers had one more goal under their bracket with Daniel Otamendi in action. The match resumed into play for the other half of the chukker and Daniel Otamendi once again seized the goal for his team.

The last chukker of the match proceeded with Rajnigandha Achievers showing the best form of defending. So much so that, by the half time they kept the ball within the team securing any goals from the opponents. A similar pattern was witnessed in the second half of the chukker. But this time, Basheer Ali scored a goal for his team. With 13seconds left in play, the umpire whistled again soon after which the match ended in favor of Rajnigandha Achievers.

The second match of the day had some fantastic combinations on the ground. Team Jindal Panther had a father-son duo along with an Arjuna Awardee in their team and obviously the star player and hitter, Salim Azmi.

As soon as the match started, within no time Roddy Williams from team Aravali Polo grabbed the first goal of the match. Jindal Panther were although granted with an advantage of half a goal, Simran Shergill taking no chance took the opportunity and seized a goal. This was followed by a penalty shot that Salim Azmi took for his team. Moving ahead, Simran once again achieved a goal.

The second chukker had the tables turned completely in favor of Aravali Polo. The chukker witnessed three back to back goals from the team, wherein the first two were from Angie Kalaan while the third one was scored by Roddy Williams. There was no other progression in the chukker.

The chukker went on in full swing and continuing the session of the last chukker, Jindal Panther had a penalty in their favor which was taken by Simran but was slightly missed but Venkatesh Jindal’s sharp senses made a goal possible for the team. Meanwhile, team Aravali Polo went on fire with four back to back goals with Angad Kalaan and Roddy Williams in action respectively. This was once again followed by a quick goal by Roddy Williams. At this, the chukker ended.

The last and the final chukker of the match had a similar like the rest with Aravali Polo distinctively overpowering team Jindal Panther. Before the half time, the chukker witnessed two goals bracketed by the team. One of these was seized by Angad Kalaan while the other by Siddhant Sharma. Nothing more happened in the course of the match.

Simultaneously in action on Ground 1 of AEC, the first match had team ASC Col Girdhari Singh and Horse & Wagon/Ascension in action. Team ASC Col Girdhari Singh was given an advantage of half a goal.
The match remained a really contested one where the victory came in with a difference of just half a goal in favor of team ASC Col Girdhari Singh.

The fourth and the final match of the day got in action between Sujan and 61 Cavalry where in the first chukker team Sujan dominated the match. It was only in the second chukker that team 61 Cavalry equalled the scoreboard to some extent that the difference came down to just one goal. The third chukker saw a similar effort by both the teams where both the teams scored two goals each. It was only in the last chukker that the winners could be predicted and it was team Sujan who seized victory for themselves by defeating 61 Cavalry by 8 goals to 6
