Hurricane in Spain: Copa De Plata Terralpa (22-goal Tournament)

The shine of Spain extended a warm welcome to the return of the high-goal tournament, Copa De Plata Terralpa, at the celebrated Ayala Polo Club.

Eight power-packed teams, brimming with hope, joined the epic battle between titans for the Copa De Plata Terralpa. La Polo gives you a glimpse of the most-awaited knockout stages of the tournament.

Semi-Final 1: Amanara vs MB Polo 

Date: 13 August 

Elimination rounds began with Amanara leading the charge against MB Polo in the first semi-finals. For the first couple of chukkers, Amanara had it easy, but MB Polo didn’t lose hope and prepared for a counterattack. The latter almost covered up the lead but fell off towards the end. Amanara secured fourteen goals in all to advance in the competition. 

Winners: Amanara ( 14-11 )

Semi-Final 2: Black Bears vs La Dolfina/Marques De Riscal

It was an incredibly close game, as both teams scored goals alternately to keep the scoreboard balanced. However, the joint efforts of Rufino Bensadon and Tomas Panelo (Black Bears) overshadowed the one-sided efforts of Adolfo Cambiasso Jr. (La Dolfina/Marques De Riscal). 

Winners: Black Bears ( 8-7 )

Semi-Final 1(Citi Reinsurance): Dos Lunas vs Les Lions/Sainte Mesme 

Date: 14 August 

A subsidiary semi-final game was held in parallel to the mainstream event for the title of Citi Reinsurance. The game featured Dos Lunas against Les Lions/Sainte Mesme. Hilario Ullao (Les Lions) outshone every other player on the field, scoring eight goals. Unfortunately, his efforts fell short in comparison to the accumulated efforts of the Dos Lunas players. 

Winners: Dos Lunas ( 11-10 )

Semi-Final 2 (Citi Reinsurance): Whizmo Polo Team vs Calatagan Polo Team

Date: 14 August 

The second finalist for the Citi Reinsurance Trophy was decided through a fierce competition between the Whizmo Polo Team and the Calatagan Polo Team. The latter could not convert many goals, which put them significantly behind in this clash. Gonzalo Pieres (Whizmo Polo) carried his team, scoring five incredible goals that helped his team cruise to victory. 

Winners: Whizmo Polo Team ( 10-6 )

Final(Citi Reinsurance): Dos Lunas vs Whizmo Polo Team

Date: 16 August 

This high-scoring encounter created a sense of high anticipation among the supporters. Both teams started off at a steady pace, but Isido Strada (Dos Lunas) took off after a couple of rounds, scoring an astounding eight goals. Lucas Criado Jr and Guillermo Caset (Whizmo Polo) tried their best to overcome the lead, but their sole efforts were not enough to win them the title of 2025 Citi Reinsurance.

Winners: Dos Lunas ( 15-10 )

Final: Amanara vs Black Bear

Date: 16 August

Amanara challenged Black Bear for the coveted title of the 2025 Copa De Plata Terralpa. Taking every goal head-on, both teams clashed in a fierce battle where Amanara took the initial lead. Black Bear couldn’t find their rhythm in time and despite having a 1-point penalty. Ultimately, Amanara, with combined efforts from Lorenzo Chavanne (7 goals) and Bartolome Castagnola Jr (5 goals), made their team the champions of the 22-goal Copa De Plata Terralpa.

Winners: Amanara ( 12-9 )
