elli Swan is a fine horse artist born and bred in Ohio. Her love for art bloomed when she was young where she actively engaged in various art programmes. Her elder sister’s horse sketches inspired and she was awe struck by her which further motivated her to emulate her. Another school friend of hers had a natural gift for sketching and painting which often left her feeling neglected. It was later that she discovered her very own artistry skills.
While she adores the artistic flair of the flashy breeds such as the Gypsy Vanner, Arabian and Friesian horses, her heart holds a special inclination towards the Morgan horse. Morgan has been a life learning lesson for her as all the unravelling layers hidden in the majestic creature taught her that life lives through the heart surpasses all expectations. Although horses are her favourite creature to sketch, she also a thing for dogs, especially Dobermans. She is versatile in her creations and can do portraits of any animal be it a snake or a bird. Her artistic influences have been pencil artist Mike Sibley (from the UK) and Kathy Treleani (from PA) and also had the golden opportunity to interact with the latter artist. Horses have been her only muse since childhood and she often reminisce the times when her teachers would warn her about her love for horses not being sufficient enough to build a career out of it. She now chuckles at the very same thought.
She performs a set of dedicated rituals to get in to the art zone. First being, trying to clear all possible deadlines before creating anything new, so that she is free and has time to relax. Secondly, meditation helps her attain peace and gets her creative nerve running. And lastly, a moving recording on an inspiration topic sets her into the motion.
She is a neutral supporter of the internet for serving as a medium for budding artists. Like a coin has two sides, the internet has it negative and positives. The bad involves increasing copyright violations and other sorts of reproduction fraud while the good is mostly about “access.”
Talented artists who once didn’t stand a chance of being noticed or found now have that opportunity. The internet serves as inspiration to artists and also gives the benefit of online selling of paintings. Hence, the good outweighs the bad. She personally has benefitted from the evolution of the internet and has progresses in terms of sales and as an artist due to the various helpful websites online. Her personal favourite piece is her creation titled “Clean Round”.
It is a jumper theme drawing, and the layout/design of the image(s) works as well as the final rendering which she loves the most. Her other passions include learning about and being part in the awakening of human consciousness. Topics like quantum physics, the law of attraction, the power of intention and the “new” spirituality interest her and love reading books written by Eckhart Tolle, Abraham-Hicks, Deepak Chopra, and Wayne Dyer.
