Los Cocos beat El Milagro by a 12-9 score, and took the XIII Jaeger-LeCoultre Julio Novillo Astrada Cup, presented by Rio Uruguay Seguros, following the championship match that was held on Friday November 25, at La Aguada Polo Club, in Open Door.
El Milagro received one goal on handicap, and featured Santiago Toccalino, filling in for the injured Ignacio Novillo Astrada. The six-chukka game had an amazing start, with both teams tied at 4-all by half time.
Los Cocos took their first lead towards the end of the fourth chukka, after a goal by Valentín Novillo Astrada. Although El Milagro was able to tie (7-7) halfway the fifth chukka, Los Cocos took the lead once again (9-7) with two goals by Miguel Novillo Astrada.
Miguel yet again, and Rafael Zubillaga scored to widen Los Cocos’ advantage to 12-7 in the sixth chukka. However, with the never giving up attitude, El Milagro managed to close the gap, with goals by Santiago Toccalino and Guillermo Villanueva. But Los Cocos strengthened their defense by holding El Milagro back, and at the end, they claimed La Aguada Polo Club’s premier competition for the second time.
