The Awadh Polo Cup organized by the Times of India and The Army Central Command rolled off in the buzzing city of Lucknow and was warmly welcomed by all the Polo fanatics around. It was a four-day tournament representing eight teams all across India, including participants from Ladakh and Manipur as well.
The Secretary of the Lucknow Polo Season, Maj Munish Gupta, said that it was for the first time that two teams from Manipur were taking part in such an event. He further added by saying that Manipur is known to be the motherland of Polo and the most interesting part is that the players still wear the traditional uniform of short kurta and breeches while playing.
The Ladakh Scouts, who were also new to the city, were seen practicing on the field in their elegantly native ensemble of a coat with colorful caps.
A paramotor flight and a demonstration of vintage and contemporary cars were also arranged in addition to the regular Polo matches.
