In an effort to revive the traditional festivals, Chitral hosted the centuries old “ Mulki Cup Polo Tournament’ in its historical form. After a hiatus of fifty years, the sport has made a comeback and brought great joy amongst the locals of the region.
Chitral District is known for its concrete cultural legacy that starkly reflects from the way of life of the people in the region. The decision to bring back polo was made by the local government in an attempt to preserve the culture of Chitral. The area’s valued cultural traditions were conserved and upheld by the rulers of the land, since the time it had been a princely state.

Polo is one of the most cherished games of Chitral and attracted a large number of spectators. An enthusiast crowd had gathered to witness the polo tournament which began way back in 1928. The sport has brought great joy among the locals and more than 50 teams from Chitral have participated in the tournament. The matches are being held by the district government. Chitralis love for polo has made the royal sport sustain even after so many year of absence.
