November 8 to December 3, 2017 the French house will represent Hermes- Lea mondes de Leila Menchari exhibition, a journey of eight sketches shedding light on Leila Menchari’s poetic and flamboyant universe, where material play the starring role, a style that became the signature of the Hermes windows from 1978 to 2013. Menchari is well known for her travels to Asia, where she unearthed the most unexpected objects.
One of the press releases said that the painters, sculptors, leather-craftsmen, weavers, mosaic-makers, stone carvers, glass-makers; a host of expert artisans worked with the designer to create the objects and decorations featured in her stunning, and fantastic shop windows.
The designer has designed, illustrated and created all of the Parisian house’s magical decors for the Parisian windows, as well as leading Hermes, and has always enjoyed playing around with materials and colors inspired by her travels, all while working with a body of exceptional artisans. The renowned Saut Hermes which will celebrate its 9th edition next year, the French House will once again take to the Grand Palais in November with a major exhibition dedicated to the work of Leila Menchari. Nathalie Criniere tells the story of the striking, exuberant and imaginative universe of the artist through the set design of eight thematic sketches.
The exhibition has free entry for the art lovers where the art pieces of Leila Menchari is therefore a story of dreams, creation and sharing told by one of Hermes’ most emblematic figures. Another striking feature about the event is the book by her, La Reine Mage,which will be co-published in November 2017 with Actes Sud, to accompany the Parisian exhibition.
