Park Place Wins The Cartier Queen’s Cup After 5th Attempt

The Cartier Queen's Cup, a premier showcase of world-class polo, unfolded at the Guards Polo Club in an electrifying 22-goal format. Players, patrons, and spectators gathered in high spirits for what promised to be a visual and sporting spectacle.

With 19 teams and 47 fiercely contested matches, this year’s edition set a new benchmark in competitive polo. Each team battled with determination for a shot at the prestigious Cartier Queen’s Cup. Quarter-Final 1: Park Place vs La Dolfina/ Scone 

Date: 7 June 

The knockout stage kicked off with a thrilling quarter-final between Park Place and La Dolfina/Scone. With the stakes sky-high, Park Place charged ahead with unwavering focus and determination. La Dolfina/Scone struggled to close the gap, coming closest in the second round—but from that point on, it was a commanding performance by Park Place. A one-team show all the way to the finish!

Winners: Park Place ( 18-9 )

Quarter-Final 2: Dubai Polo Team vs UAE Polo Team 

The second quarter-final featured the Dubai Polo Team against the UAE Polo Team. The former team was able to dominate every phase of the game. The UAE Polo Team had qualified well for this stage, but the Dubai Polo Team demolished all their hopes of moving forward and knocked them out of the tournament through a defeat of a massive five-point lead. 

Winners: Dubai Polo Team ( 9-4 )

Quarter-Final 3: La Dolfina/ Marques De Riscal vs Sujan Indian Tigers 

Date: 8 June 

The third semifinalist resulted from a high-scoring encounter between La Dolfina/Marques De Riscal and Sujan Indian Tigers. By the end of the first half, the game was swinging like a pendulum, with La Dolfina/Marques De Riscal only a couple of points ahead. But La Dolfina completely changed the course of the game in the second half, extending their lead from a couple of points to eight points when the final bell rang.

Winners: La Dolfina/Marques De Riscal ( 18-10 )

Quarter Final 4: King Power vs Aureus 

The last quarter-final game was also the second and last game for the day, held between King Power and Aureus. This was a closer game compared to the above quarter-final games. Aureus were looking in good form, maintaining a good lead of two points for three complete rounds. However, things took a sharp turn as King Power went deep inside their zones and scored four fabulous goals to qualify for the next stage. 

Winners: King Power ( 11-9 )

Subsidiary Semi-Final: La Dolfina/ Scone vs UAE Polo Team 

Date: 11 June 

The only subsidiary semi-final was held between La Dolfina/Scone and UAE Polo Team to decide the opponents for the Sujan Indian Tigers, who were already waiting in the finals (subsidiary). The game was close as both teams charged forward, only to score a huge number of goals, but in the end, La Dolfina/Scone outdid the UAE Polo Team.

Winners: La Dolfina/ Scone ( 10-9 )

Semi-Final 1: Park Place vs Dubai Polo Team

Date: 11 June 

The first semi-final of the Cartier Queen’s Cup was a high-scoring contest between Park Place and Dubai Polo Team. Both teams were in phenomenal touch, and each mallet swing was becoming a treat to watch! However, Park Place quickly entered their zones, and the Dubai Polo Team arrived late to the party. Eventually, the former team won the game by a two-point margin.

Winners: Park Place ( 15-13 )

Semi-Final 2: La Dolfina/ Marques De Riscal vs King Power 

The second semi-final game featured La Dolfina/Marques De Riscal against King Power. The former side took over the match after a couple of rounds when the team was able to extend its lead by three points. After this, King Power felt immense pressure, and despite trying desperately to come back into the game, their efforts were in vain. 

Winners: La Dolfina/ Marques De Riscal ( 11-7 )

Subsidiary Final: Sujan Indian Tigers vs La Dolfina/ Scone 

Date: 15 June 

The subsidiary final was the first game to be held on this day. Sujan Indian Tigers had been performing beautifully throughout the tournament, and they were ready to sign off their final match with a dominating performance. La Dolfina/Scone were not an easy opponent for the Sujan Indian Tigers, but they stood their ground, smashed 13 goals, and won the subsidiary final.

Winners: Sujan Indian Tigers ( 13-9 )

Final: Park Place vs La Dolfina/ Marques De Riscal 

Date: 15 June 

The time for the final game had arrived, and two of the most prominent and standout teams were ready to run the last mile. This one was an incredibly close game worthy of being the showstopper. Both teams were going back and forth, being in the lead until Park Place could get ahead in line by the end of the fourth round. La Dolfina was able to bounce back into the game, equalising the scoreboard in the next round (8 points each). Park Place reigned supreme in the final round, scoring the magical goal and winning the Cartier Queen’s Cup. 

Winners: Park Place ( 9-8 )
