Polo in Delhi: DGST Trophy (6 Goal Tournament)

The Delhi Polo Season ended its DGST Trophy last week with plenty of terrifying matches, ranging from highly anticipated results to some shocking comebacks.

Providing teams enough rest in a rejuvenating format, the DGST Trophy was held between four teams over ten days. Every single game was vital for qualifying, and in case you didn’t catch all the fun, here’s a quick recap of the events.

Match 1: Achievers vs ASC Royal Enfield 

Date: 13 November 

The first game began, and Achievers were up against ASC Royal Enfield. Achievers started ahead in points and could also capitalize on them. The fight was neck-to-neck till the last round, and Achievers picked up their first tournament win. 

Winner: Achievers (5.5-5)


Match 2: Delta Polo vs Cavaliers

Date: 16 November 

The next and final league game was played after a break of a couple of days between Delta Polo and the Cavaliers. Both teams showcased exceptional grit and determination to win the game; however, Delta Polo were able to use  their experience and remain calm under pressure, which helped them snatch this win. 

Winner: Delta Polo (5-4)

Semi-Final 1: ASC Royal Enfield vs Delta Polo 

Date: 20 November

The first semifinal game arrived, and ASC Royal Enfield and Delta Polo descended on the field to face one another. It was the highest-scoring game of the DGST Trophy, with over a dozen goals scored in total. ASC Royal Enfield smashed goals at frequent intervals and was matched in pace by Delta Polo, but unfortunately, the latter ran out of gas, and ASC Royal Enfield carved their ticket to the final. 

Winner: ASC Royal Enfield (8-6)


Semi-Final 2: Cavaliers vs Achievers 

The second semifinal game was played between the Cavaliers and Achievers, a battle awaited by spectators since the start of the DGST Trophy. Cavaliers crushed Achievers, building up a lead so huge that it ended up being almost double the number of goals scored by Achievers. This absolute blinder by the Cavaliers sent them straight into the finals to face ASC Royal Enfield. 

Winner: Cavaliers (9-5.5)

Final: ASC Royal Enfield vs Cavaliers 

Date: 22 November

After hopping through numerous hurdles, ASC Royal Enfield and Cavaliers were face-to-face in the highly awaited finale. Cavaliers were the surprise entry who tried to step up their game, but the ASC Royal Enfield team was ready for the challenge, as for every single goal they took, they scored twice, winning this year’s prestigious title of DGST Trophy by a comfortable margin. 

Winner: ASC Royal Enfield (6-3)
