The rainy skyline of the city that never sleeps declares an unexpected winner for the Sternhagen Polo Cup

19th January

To commence the contest MD Polo/ 61st Cavalry played off against V Polo. The brilliant Dhruvpal Godara came in hot with goals continuously being scored every chukker for MD Polo/ 61st Cavalry. For the other side, the maestro Samir Suhag, the wonderful Sunny Patel and the exceptional Gonzalo Yanzon each scored goals bringing V Polo into a victorious finish with 7.5 goals against MD Polo/ 61st Cavalry’s 5 goals.

Adding on the flame the second match of the first day saw Dynamix Achievers and MD Polo wrestle once more post the magnificent finals of the Southern Command Cup. This time Naik Ravinder Mang joined in the quartet of Dynamix Achievers and Salim Azmi joined the quartet of MD Polo. Keeping up their momentum Daniel Otamendi and Shamsheer Ali put up an extreme combat of defense and attack scoring 7 goals for their team Achievers. On the other hand, Simran S. Shergill and Gaurav Sahgal presented a spotless partnership consistently pushing back against Achievers and with the aid of Salim Azmi, MD Polo won by a close thread of 8 goals against 7 goals.

20th January

With full form the second day of the Cup saw some intense action for both matches. To start off V Polo and Dynamix Achievers battled off against each other. In the first chukker Shamsheer Ali took the lead with 2 goals for Achievers against Samir Suhag’s single goal for the V Polo team. By the second chukker Daniel Otamendi, Shamsheer Ali and Shyam Mehta put up a great defense and attack combination gathering 4 goals. Although V Polo put up a great fight in the third and fourth chukker Achievers came out successful with 7 goals against 4.5 goals.

Later in the afternoon, MD Polo/ 61st Cavalry and MD Polo took the pitch. A game filled with twists and turns it left everyone gasping and unable to decide the victors as the scoreboard remained equal till the last chukker. The incredible passes and attack of Siddhant Sharma and Maj. Aman Singh for MD Polo/ 61st Cavalry and the unbelievable defense of Gaurav Sahgal and Simran S. Shergill set the pitch ablaze. Nonetheless in the end the teamwork of MD Polo shone and took them to victory with 6 goals against the 5 goals of MD Polo/ 61st Cavalry.

22nd January

Although the final match between Dynamix Achievers and MD Polo was eagerly awaited the pitch of the Amateur Rider’s Club was filled with a heavy downpour and the match had been called off declaring both victors.
