While older, prestigious tournaments continue to remain the staple, newer, electrifying tournaments are spicing up Polo. In recent times, the state of Rajasthan has been a gracious host to a number of tournaments. The pink city, Jaipur, recently welcomed teams to participate in the prestigious Rajasthan Polo Club Cup. Visitors to the city were in for a treat, they could now witness polo specked with royalty at the heart of Rajasthan’s majestic grandeur.
This time around, the tournament had been celebrating yet another milestone of a blockbuster edition, keeping up the tradition of being amongst the foremost events in the Indian polo arena. RPC Cup, which ran from 30th November to 4th December, managed to keep spectators on the edge of their seats with some out-of-the-world performances by the four participating teams. The captivating sport reaped yet another exciting record with the eight-goal tournament in the city. With five unmissable games, RCP Cup kept spectators enraptured. Each game outshone the other as we moved towards the finals to see which of the four teams would surpass the rest. The Achievers eventually clinched the trophy with a stunning finalé victory, having their name set in stone as crusaders of the sport!
Day 1 (30th November 2022)
On the first day of the tournament, The inaugural match of 8 goals RPC Cup held at Rajasthan Polo Club witnessed teams Rajnigandha Achievers and RPC playing against one another. Intrestingly, Team RPC dominated the first half of the game but with the third chukker in action, Rajnigandha Achievers made a strong comeback and led their way towards victory with a final score of 9.5 goals to 3
Day 2 (1st Decembr 2022)
Second day into the 8 goals RPC Cup had teams Bedla-Chandna Polo and Mayfair-Krishna Polo against one another. After the end of the first chukker, the scoreboard read almost similar scores for both the teams, but it was in the second chukker when Mayfair-Krishna Polo took a strong lead over Bedla-Chandna Polo. In the second half of the game, Team Bedla-Chandna gave a tough fight to bridge the gap but with the umpire’s whistle, the game concluded with a final score of 9.5 goals 8 in favour of Mayfair-Krishna Polo.
Day3 (2nd December 2022)
The Semifinals of 8 goals RPC Cup witnessed an action-packed day at the 61 Cavalry ground, Jaipur. The first match played between Bedla-Chandna Polo and Rajnigandha Achievers was completely one-sided with the latter leading with a score of 7.5-0 by the end of the third chukker. Even though Bedla-Chandna Polo struck 5 goals in the last chukker, Rajnigandha Achievers led their way towards victory with a final score of 8.5 goals to 5.
The second match played between team Mayfair-Krishna Polo and RPC witnessed a similar sight. The latter had gained a strong lead of 4 goals in the first chukker itself. Hence, with a final score of 7 goals to 4.5, RPC earned their spot in the finals.
Day 4 (4th December 2022)
The finals of 8 goals RPC Cup witnessed a closely contested match between team RPC and Rajnigandha Achievers at the Rajasthan Polo Club, Jaipur. It was a neck-and-neck action between the two teams, making it difficult to take a call as the scoreboard kept cheering similar numbers on both sides. With a final score of 6.5-5 goals, Rajnigandha Achievers emerged winners and lifted the glorious trophy.
