SD Farms Claim the 18 Goal Polo Tournament: Ylvisaker Cup

This past weekend, the all-new Ylvisaker Cup witnessed an overwhelming turnout. As twelve elite teams competed for the coveted title, each faced fierce challenges from formidable opponents. Here’s a look at some of the tournament’s most pivotal, game-changing matchups.

Participating Teams 

The initial games kicked off, showcasing valiant efforts from the sides of SD Farms, Copperline Farms, Flying H Polo, and Bientina, making them qualify for the knockout stages of the event. A recap:

Semi-Final 1: SD Farms vs Flying H Polo

Date: 12 February

SD Farms and Flying H Polo were the first teams to fight for the first spot in the finals of the Ylvisaker Cup. The game was highly enthralling as both teams’ scoreboards looked the same by the end of each chukker. Flying H Polo took a small lead by the start of the second half and maintained it in the next chukker as well, but in the last round, SD Farms took the lead, beating all odds. Flying H Polo had a disappointing end to the game, not being able to score a single point in the last round.

Winner: SD Farms ( 9-8 )

Semi-Final 2: Bientina vs Zapican BMW 

The second semi-final was a contest between Bientina and Zapican BMW. The latter team had an excellent start, and Bientina was lagging by the end of the first half. The real comeback happened in the fifth chukker, when Bientina scored three consecutive goals to take a comfortable lead and continue the momentum until the last round. Zapican BMW fell off towards the end and lost a game that originally belonged to them.

Winner: Bientina ( 12-5 )

State of Florida Cup Final: South Park Elementary vs Novo Polo 

Date: 15 February 

A new day dawned, and two extremely talented teams, South Park Elementary and Novo Polo, faced one another. Both teams had an excellent game that brought the attendees to the edge of their seats. By the end of the sixth chukker, both teams landed on ten points each, and the game went into overtime. In this exciting thriller, South Park Elementary scored the golden goal, which helped them lift the State of Florida Cup.

Winner: South Park Elementary ( 11-10 )

Final: Bientina vs SD Farms

Date: 16 February 

After long, hard-fought battles, the two remaining teams in this battle royale of polo were Bientina and SD Farms. A huge number turned in, expecting a nerve-racking game, but Bientina was hurrying to finish quickly. It was only after the first round that SD Farms looked like contenders for the title, but the game started slipping out of their hands. They could not score a single goal in the third and fourth chukkers while Bientina could score over a dozen goals by the same time! The last two rounds were merely a formality, and Bientina lifted the Ylvisaker Cup in style.

Winner: Bientina ( 18-6 )

Personalised Products Final: Tonkawa vs Clearwater 

Date: 17 February 

The finale of this half-month-long campaign featured Tonkawa and Clearwater contesting for the Personalised Products Final. The result of the match was clear as water after the second round, when Clearwater was only able to score a single goal, and Tonkawa had already built up a three-point lead. Tonkawa dominated the entire game with their good momentum and became the champions of the Personalised Products Cup.
