This summer, Ladakh became accessible for its prestigious polo festival in the beautiful Drass area. Offering more than just Polo matches, Ladakh’s striking beauty and culture were also visible to all spectators and players. Polo is embedded in the place’s rich cultural and historical heritage, which has embraced the sport for centuries, giving it a unique flair. The rough terrain is set as the backdrop, and each match is infused with traditional music and dance performances, local cuisines, and a welcoming atmosphere created by the warm residents of the region. Here’s a glimpse into some of the fascinating matches in this magnificent setting.

Teams With Exceptional Performance

A total of four teams were able to qualify for the semi-finals, setting the stage for a highly anticipated result of the tournament. The team that qualified for the semifinals were:

  1. Himalayan Red Polo Club
  2. Himalayan Blue polo club
  3. D- Meadow Polo Club 
  4. Goshan Panthers 

Semi-Finals

Match 1: Himalayan Red vs Goshan Panthers

The first semi-final match was a display of polo prowess by the Himalayan Red team against the Goshan Panthers. Completely decimating their opponents, the former team marched into the finals, displaying their aggressive gameplay.

Winners: Himalayan Red (16-2)

Match 2: D-Meadows vs Himalayan Blue

The second game was a showdown between D-Meadows and Himalayan Blue. This game was pretty one-sided too. Despite being low-scoring, all goals were scored by just one team. D-Meadows proved to be an unbreakable fortress that the Himalayan Blues were unable to breach.

Winners: D-Meadows (4-0)

Final: Himalayan Red vs D-Meadows 

The finale of the event was played between the two most deserving teams, the Himalayan Red and D-Meadows, in hopes of achieving the coveted trophy by the Hon’ble LT Governor UT Ladakh. The Himalayan Reds played cautiously in this game and guarded their goals extremely well, not allowing the opponents to pass through even once. They scored a total of four goals to claim the Cup.
