La Trinidad Lift The Technopolo Cup Trophy For Second Year In A Row

The VIII Technopolo Cup, organised by Franck Dubarry and Minuto Siete, was ready to witness a feisty battle at the Technopolo ground, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Players dressed in orange were ready to compete against the players completely covered in white. People were seating themselves at the grandstand when the chief guest arrived. The excitement among the crowd was increasing second by second when the players arrived in the field to practice. The coaches of both the teams had a little chat with the players before the match, the playing team was decided, the umpires arrived on the field, some last-minute touches were given to the field, the players posed for an individual as well as a team photograph when the commentator for the match arrived at the stands. The team players were announced and the chief guest threw the ball amongst the players to indicate the start of the long-awaited finals at the Technopolo ground.

An extremely competitive tournament, Technopolo Cup witnessed taut battles throughout it’s run. There were several teams in the running for the title in 10-12 goals tournament. Ten teams split into two zones, played for 10 days before the final day. La Trinidad, comprised of Pipe Marquez (+6), Lukitas Monteverde (+1), Facundo Castagnola (+5) and Alejandro Metro (0) and Campanulata, playing with Mackenzie Weisz (+2), Ezequiel Zubiaurre (+4), Benjamín Urquiza (+6), Eitan Koran (+1) played against each other in the finals of Technopolo Cup. The main title which honored the late Jorge Mac Donough, saw Esteban Ferrari and Martín Pascual umpiring in the finals. Martin Aguerre was the referee in the final match between La Trinidad and Campanulata.

The five chukker match was a no-winner until the third chukker. La Trinidad took the charge of the match completely and won the final against Campanulata by 8 – 3. El Overo Sagitaria, played by Pipe Marquez was declared the Best Playing Pony. Leading by 2 – 1 after the first chukker, La Trinindad kept the lead in the second chukker too. After scoring a goal in the second chukker, La Trinidad were leading by 3 – 1 after the second chukker. La Trinidad continued scoring goals and maintained a good lead in the third chukker too. The score was 4 – 2 after the third chukker and La Trinidad ensured a victory for themselves after the fourth chukker. They were leading by 6 – 3 after chukker 4 and they won the match after chukker 5 by 8 – 3. Yvan Guillemin, Dubarry’s polo professor and President of the polo commission of the Polo de Paris board, who passed away last week, was also honoured with a trophy, which was won by In The Wings.
