The Mirror Win The Phoenician Cup At Guards Polo Club

Born from the vision of the late Eddy Arida, the Phoenician Cup is a thrilling 12-goal tournaments held at the Guards Polo Club.

Eleven well-prepared teams took to the field to honour the four-decade legacy of the Phoenician Cup. Over nearly two weeks in July, the tournament delivered 21 electrifying matches that left spectators spellbound. Here are some of the standout games that captured the hearts of polo fans.

Semi-Final 1: Tchogan/Polo Performance vs Cool Hooves Polo 

Date: 11 July 

The first semi-final saw a dominant performance by Tchogan/Polo Performance against Cool Hooves Polo. Starting with a points advantage, Tchogan didn’t ease up—maintaining relentless pressure and racking up goal after goal. They finished with 8.5 points, securing a comfortable 3.5-point win.

Winner: Tchogan/Polo Performance ( 8.5-5 )

Semi-Final 2: The Mirror vs Shoreline 

The next game was a thrilling contest between The Mirror and Shoreline. This one was comparatively a closer game. Both teams performed exceptionally well; anyone could have picked up the win. But in the end, fate sided with The Mirror, which ended up on the winning side.

Winner: The Mirror ( 6-5 )

Sub-Semi-Final 1: Quianto Capital Polo Team vs Lilienbach/Bajaj Polo

Date: 11 July 

Along with the mainline championship, a sub-semi-final game was held between Quianto Capital Polo Team and Lilienbach/Bajaj Polo, where the former team had a points advantage. Both teams had a close game.  Lilienbach/Bajaj Polo put up a great fight, not making it easy for Quianto Capital Polo Team. However, Quianto Capital smashed a couple of goals to win the game. 

Winner: Quianto Capital Polo Team ( 6.5-5 )

Sub-Semi-Final 2: Mad Dogs vs Blenheim 

The teams of Mad Dogs and Blenheim played the second semi-final. Despite not being a high-scoring game, the match was no less exciting. Just a single point decided the fate of the game, and the team that weighed a little heavy on points was Mad Dogs.

Winner: Mad Dogs ( 5-4 )

Sub-Final: Quianto Capital Polo Team vs Mad Dogs 

Date: 13 July 

Both teams had been in extraordinary form, but only one could have been victorious here. The teams proceeded with caution, paying close attention not to concede too many goals. Finally, Quianto Capital scored a couple of extra goals before the final bell and went home on a high note. 

Winners: Quianto Capital Polo Team ( 6-4 )

Final: The Mirror vs Tchogan/Polo Performance

Date: 13 July 

After a long-awaited turn of events, The Mirror finally came face to face with the mighty Tchogan/Polo Performance. Both teams gave each other a fair fight and gave the audience the thrill of a tight contest. The final moment of glory shone upon the team of The Mirror, who had the gods of fortune favouring them and became the champions of the 2025 Phoenician Cup.
