The Outback Cup in the US Held Much Excitement For Polo Fans

This past week, the US Polo Season progressed toward one of its most prestigious events—the Outback Cup, a highly anticipated tournament showcasing top-tier 16-goal teams.

Ten teams exhibiting phenomenal gameplay were ready to deliver mind-blowing action. The field was filled with spectators supporting their favourites and wishing for them to reach the finals. The event had many epic encounters, but let’s review some of the best matches in this year’s Outback Cup.

Mini Quarter Final 1: Dracarys vs 90210 Polo Team 

Date: 31 March 

The first mini-quarter game was a high-scoring fest between Dracarys and the 90210 Polo Team. Both teams aimed to score goals in almost every round. The lead was, however, maintained by Dracarys from the very start, and despite the best efforts from the side of the 90210 Polo Team, Dracarys proved to be too far ahead in points.

Winner: Dracarys ( 11-9 )

Mini Quarter Final 2: Flying H Polo vs Zapican BMW

The second mini-quarter game, held on the same day, showcased talents from Flying H Polo and Zapican BMW. Zapican was able to write the first chukker to their name but was taken over by Flying H Polo in the upcoming rounds. Flying H Polo kept the edge over Zapican BMW for all the remaining rounds and did not allow them to get past them, qualifying them for the semi-finals. 

Winner: Flying H Polo ( 12-11 )

Semi-Final 1: Dracarys vs Tonkawa 

Date: 2 April 

The first semi-final game was a close match between two dominating teams, Dracarys and Tonkawa. Having had a good campaign, both teams cautiously proceeded with this knockout game. Ultimately, fortune tilted slightly towards Dracarys.

Winner: Dracarys ( 10-9 )

Semi-Final 2: Palm Beach Equine vs Flying H Polo 

A thrilling match decided the second finalist of this year’s Outback Cup, with Palm Beach Equine edging past Flying H Polo. Flying H Polo had a strong start, scoring three goals in the opening round. However, Palm Beach Equine quickly responded, equalising in the next round and then pulling ahead. From that point on, they maintained their lead to secure a spot in the final.

Winner: Palm Beach Equine ( 10-8 )

Sunny Hale Final: Los Machitos / EL Refugio vs Bientina 

Date: 5 April 

On the day of the finals, the subsidiary final for the Sunny Hale Cup saw elite players from Los Machitos/El Refugio and Bientina face off in a closely contested match. Both teams were evenly matched, ending the fourth round tied at six goals each. In the following chukker, Los Machitos surged ahead with four unanswered goals, a decisive run that sealed their victory in the Sunny Hale Cup final.

Winner: Los Machitos/ EL Refugio ( 13-8 )

Final: Palm Beach Equine vs Dracarys 

Date: 5 April 

Moving toward the day’s final game, saving the best for last, Palm Beach Equine went up against Dracarys. The outcome of this game was hanging by a fine thread, with both teams trying to match each other’s intensity. Dracarys was feeling the pressure, a little behind in points from the third round. In the last chukker, Palm Beach Equine defended their goalposts and kept the pace of the game slow, giving it their all to win the Outback Cup.

Winner: Palm Beach Equine ( 11-10 )
