Nine teams fighting each other vigorously were divided among three pools, each filled with a passion for polo. Match 1: Lancers vs Stallions
Date: 5 November
The Field Marshal Cup kicked off with a contest between the Lancers and Stallions. The Lancers dominated the game against the Stallions, showcasing phenomenal teamwork and the ability to adapt. The Stallions tried to come back into the game by scoring a couple of goals but couldn’t seem to break through the Lancers’ defences as much as they needed to.
Winner: Lancers (6-2)
Match 2: Ultimate Risala vs Remounts
Date: 6 November
The second game on the next day was between Ultimate Risala and Remounts. Remounts started off with a 0.5-point advantage, the only time they were in the lead. Ultimate Risala went on a rampage, scoring eight goals in total, which were more than enough to cruise through victory easily.
Winner: Ultimate Risala ( 8-1.5 )
Match 3: Stallions vs Sahgal Stud
Date: 7 November
Next up were the Stallions going up against Sahgal Stud. It was the first intense and close game of the tournament. Both teams went back and forth with goals, ensuring a highly anticipated last chukker. The Stallions were able to hold their nerves a little better, and their accumulated teamwork helped them cross the finish line.
Winner: Stallions (6-5)
Match 4: Super Warriors vs Remounts
Date: 8 November
The sole league game for today was between the Super Warriors and the Remounts. The gameplay from the Remounts was all over the place due to the pressure placed by the Super Warriors’ continuous scoring. Eventually, the gap was quite evident and showcased in the lead. The Super Warriors won the game with a comfortable five-point lead.
Winner: Super Warriors ( 8-3 )
Match 5: Ultimate Warriors vs Salvo
Date: 9 November
The first doubleheader day of the event brought us the first game between Ultimate Warriors and Salvo. Salvo tried to fight back in the game, but Ultimate Warriors’ continuous attacks made their gameplay fall apart, eventually losing them this game.
Winner: Ultimate Warriors (7-3)
Match 6: Ultimate Risala vs Super Warriors
The day’s second game was contested between Ultimate Risala and Super Warriors. Despite the advantage given to Super Warriors at the start, Ultimate Risala quickly coped with the gap and didn’t look back while scoring consecutive goals. They scored eight times to build up a massive lead of 5.5 points for an easy win.
Winner: Ultimate Risala (8-2.5)
Match 7: Salvo vs PBG
Date: 12 November
After a break of a few days, Salvo and PBG took to the field to face one another. This was the closest match in this edition of the Field Marshal Cup. PBG had a starting advantage but also packed up quite the teamwork to give Salvo tough competition. It was just by 0.5 points that Salvo could nearly miss an upsetting defeat.
Winner: Salvo (6-5.5)
Match 8: Sahgal Stud vs Lancers
Following the previous thriller, it was time to witness Sahgal Stud’s dominance against Lancers. Lancers’ game seemed completely off in this match, as Sahgal Stud went on to score more than a dozen goals, which was by far the highest recorded in this tournament.
Winner: Sahgal Stud (13-1)
Match 9: Ultimate Warriors vs PBG
Date: 13 November
The last league game was between Ultimate Warriors and PBG. Once again, we witnessed the calm and collected gameplay of Ultimate Warriors, who scored half a dozen goals, controlling the ball most of the time and avoiding any unnecessary scoring from the opposite side.
Winner: Ultimate Warriors (6-2.5)
Semi-Final 1: Ultimate Risala vs Ultimate Warriors
Date: 15 November
It was time for the semis, and the battle between the two ultimate teams was up first. Ultimate Risala was a little up in terms of handicap, which gave them an upper hand in experience, which they used beautifully. They were able to chip in a couple of goals in some crucial stages of the game, which carried them into the finals.
Winner: Ultimate Risala (8-5.5)
Semi-Final 2: Stallions vs Salvo
The second semifinal game was between the Stallions and Salvo. It was intense, and Salvo used every weapon in their arsenal to make it close. However, the Stallions were in top form and far from throwing away any game so easily. They calmed their nerves in the crucial stages of the game and scored a couple of extra times to be in the lead when the final bell of the game rang.
Winner: Stallions (8-6)
Final: Ultimate Risala vs Stallions
Date: 16 November
After such intense matches accompanied by some dominating performances, Ultimate Risala and Stallions made their way into the finals of the Field Marshal Cup. Both teams had a defensive approach to the game. Ultimate Risala moved their scoreboard from the first chukker, scoring two goals, and Stallions were still looking to score their initial goal. Eventually, Stallions scored in the second and third rounds and closed the gap. In the last chukker, both teams scored one goal each, which made Ultimate Risala win the game by a slim margin of one point, making them champions of this year’s Field Marshal Cup.
