The 2017 Iglehart Cup got in progress with a couple of games Friday evening at the International Polo Club with a couple of extra minutes goals showing the equality of the five-group field.
In the twelve challenge, Mt. Splendid (Bo Goodman ,Jason Crowder, Santi Chavanne and Julian Daniels) combat once more from a 4-2 halftime shortage to tie the game in the 6th chukker and go ahead to beat Goose Creek (Maureen Brennan, Peke Gonzalez, Tomas Garcia del Rio and Mariano Gonzalez) in extra minutes on an goal from the field from Jason Crowder.
Crowder scored three of his four goals in the urgent 6th period before riding on to enroll the triumphant goal in the initial two minutes of sudden-passing extra minutes.
Crowder and Santiago Chavanne scored four goals apiece with teammate Julian Daniels adding two goals for the win.
Equine Liquid Biocell 10, Tonkawa 9 OT
The show of the primary Iglehart Cup match of the day was reproduced at 3pm as Equine Liquid Biocell (Jim Zenni, Agustin Obregon, Hilario Ulloa and Jared Zenni) battled back to tie the game with Tonkawa (Jeff Hildebrand, Costi Caset, Sapo Caset and Facundo Obregon) in the 6th before a Tonkawa foul only 90 seconds into additional time sent 10-goaler Hilario Ulloa to the punishment line where he changed over a 30-yard extra shot for the 10-9 triumph.
Ulloa scored five of his group high seven goals on extra shots. Agustin Obregon included two goals and Jared Zenni scored once for the win. Ten-goaler Sapo Caset drove the Tonkawa assault with seven goals (four on punishment changes). Facundo Obregon and Costi Caset were credited with single goals in the misfortune.
Iglehart Cup rivalry will proceed at the International Polo Club on Wednesday, March first with a 3pm game between La Indiana (Michael Bickford, Ruki Baillieu, Jeff Hall and Mike Azzaro) and Equine Liquid Biocell.
