US Open Women’s Polo Championship

Playing in a cross-bracket format, six teams competed in a unique format where all league games were played in four chukkers. The semi-finals were conducted as a five-chukker game, and the final was a six-chukker match.

The tournament’s opening matches delivered thrilling moments, with Buena Vibra, North Star, La Dolfina/90210, and Mint Eco Car Wash displaying remarkable valour and composure to secure early victories. As the competition intensified, here’s how the latter stages unfolded:

Match 7: North Star vs La Dolfina/90210

Date: 3 February 

It was a triple-header that day, with the first match featuring North Star and La Dolfina/90210. This was a close game where neither of the teams was ready to give the other team too big of a lead. Towards the end, North Star came out on top, shining with the help of a couple of extra goals they bagged during the crucial moments.

Winner: North Star ( 6-4 )

Match 8: La Fe Eastern Hay vs BTA/Lazy

The next game in line was between La Fe Eastern Hay and BTA/Lazy. Both teams looked good until the former team gradually started developing a lead. BTA/Lazy tried their best to come back into the game, but all their efforts were halted, and La Fe Eastern Hay flew away with the game quite comfortably.

Winner: La Fe Eastern Hay ( 8-5 )

Match 9: Mint Eco Car Wash vs Buena Vibra 

The last league game showcased a dominating performance from the side of Mint Eco Car Wash against the formidable Buena Vibra. The former team rose to their potential and outclassed Buena Vibra, who had been in phenomenal touch in their previous two games. Touching almost ten goals, Mint Eco Car Wash washed away every effort of Buena Vibra, making them face defeat for the first time in the tournament.

Winner: Mint Eco Car Wash ( 9-4 )

Semi-Final 1: Buena Vibra vs Mint Eco Car Wash 

Date: 6 February 

After a short break, the tournament was back, with four splendid teams battling for the final spot. The first semi-final was held between Buena Vibra and Mint Eco Car Wash, a rematch of the last league game, where Buena Vibra was looking to avenge their honour. In this attempt for revenge, Buena Vibra went all out and used every weapon in their arsenal to leave behind the Mint Eco Car Wash team and knock them out of the tournament.

Winner: Buena Vibra ( 8-6 )

Semi-Final 2: La Fe Eastern Hay vs North Star

A game decided the second finalist between La Fe Eastern Hay and North Star. It was by far the highest-scoring game witnessed by the enthusiasts. Both teams had an excellent campaign, but from here on, only one could move forward. North Star capitalised on every little opportunity they got to score, but unfortunately, La Fe Eastern Hay didn’t leave a lot of chinks in the armour. Hence, they could stay ahead by a couple of extra points and became the second team to acquire a ticket to the finals.

Winner: La Fe Eastern Hay (11-9)

Final: Buena Vibra vs La Fe Eastern Hay

Date: 9 February 

Two of the most consistent and presiding teams met one another in this final battle for the ultimate prize. As expected, the game looked equally balanced, where both teams were moving their scoreboards meticulously, one point at a time. La Fe Eastern Hay posed a tremendous challenge, but unfortunately, time wasn’t on their side, and Buena Vibra took away the game by a margin of just a single point and became the champions of this year’s US Open Women’s Polo Championship.
