The sparkling evening was made all the more glamorous by the widely assorted glitterati, who had come to enjoy the chic and sleek Saturday afternoon of high-end Polo, fast cars and the voguish champagne of the sixth annual Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo Cape Town 2016 Presented by Mantis Collection.
The classy Val de Vie Estate in the Paarl-Franschhoek Valley once again played host to this dashing affair and ensured that guests stepped into a picture perfect world that celebrates the best of the exotic and tropical Cape Town.
Event co-owners VIVIDLUXURY and Val de Vie Events fashioned a world class event, which captivated guests; from the Ferrari vehicle display to a perfect a la mode fashion show by D’oré – the afternoon was edifying under the theme Let Life Surprise You. Drawing inspiration from Madame Clicquot’s passion for embracing life and ‘inventing the things of tomorrow’, the Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo amazed and delighted guests at every turn.
Staying true to the theme, ephemera were greeted by a surprising 3D Veuve Clicquot photo booth experience where event media partner E! Entertainment Africa chatted with celebs and VIPs on arrival about their fashionable ensembles and more.
Polo Romeos enjoyed an ecstatic 12 goal polo tournament, with top national and international players competing. Team Seven Oaks won the opening match, attaining the 3rd place in the Tournament, while Fifth Chukka,representing Veuve Clicquot won with an amazing score of 7 – 3 against One Zone Polo, representing Julius Bär in the riveting main game. Ferrari was there to throw in the ball along with Moët Hennessy’s Regional Managing Director for Africa and Middle East, Pascal Asin and the Minister of Tourism Derek Hanekom at the start of the final game.
Official Fashion Partner of the 2016 event, D’oré showcased the thought provoking Vanessa Gounden, Artivism for Breast Cancer collection that will retail exclusively at D’oré in South Africa. Moroccanoil, the Official Hair Partner of the event, reflected the latest international hair trends on the runway, with their top international runway stylist, Voilet Sainsbury, arriving in from Australia for the event.
The emcees for the day, Leigh-Anne Williams and Afrika Melane, entertained and mesmerised the guests with their charm and wit, while the polo commentator for the day, the celebrated Matthew Pohl, kept guests glued to their seats, not a tough task, with the most riveting polo played on the Val de Vie greens, till date.
The Best Dressed competition for the day, judged by Elle magazine was another highlight in the enthralling programme of events. The Best Dressed Female of the day award went to the much-admired Isibaya actress, Nomzamo Mbatha, who had definitely dressed to the teeth. Best Dressed Couple went to Nandi Ndlovu and Buntu Ngcuka, while Best Dressed Male went to blogger and presenter Shiraz Reddy – a difficult choice given the high level of style and sophistication displayed at this year’s event. Guests loved the bright and bold theme, inspired by Veuve Clicquot’s bright yellow label.
Ryk Neethling, Marketing Director for Val de Vie Estate handed over a R100 000 cheque from Official Charity Partner, ISPS Handa, for Hope through Action in aid of sports development in the Paarl Valley area.
The Fifth Chukka team took home the desirable winning trophy and the Best Pony of the day was Who’s That Girl,owned by South African Polo Team Captain Tom de Bruin. After a mesmeric day of fast-paced polo, guests proceeded to the pop-up Shimmy Beach after party for one final toast to #VCMastersPolo
