A double action day at the Habtoor Polo Resort and Club saw
Palm Beach vs Dubai & Palermo vs Cowdray in the semi-finals
of the AHPRC League at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club.
Dubai came out on top in the first game, as they won by 4 goals
to 3 against Palm beach in an intense match.The first chukker
ended at 1-1. Palm Beach took the lead in the second chukker
as they scored two more to make it 3-2 in their favour. Dubai
levelled things up in the third chukker to make it 3-3 at the end
of it. The final chukker started at 3-3 and ended at 3-4 in favour
of Dubai who completed their comeback in the dying seconds to
win the match by 4 goals to 3. Raja Abulejeban was the top
scorer with 3 goals to his name.
In the second match, it was Palermo that ran away winners in a
low scoring match. The first chukker was goalless as both
teams failed to score. Palermo managed to score in the second
chukker and the score was 0-1.5 at the end of it thanks to
Palermo’s lower team handicap. Cowdray managed to pull one
back in the third but it wasn’t enough and Palermo won the
match by 1.5 goals to 1. Petra Spanko was the top scorer with 1
goal to his name.
The final of the AHPRC Cup took place on Friday, April 20th at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club between Dubai and Cowdray. Cowdray showed great fighting spirit and skill from the first whistle and managed to get a one goal lead heading into the final chukker. Despite Dubai’s best efforts, it was Cowdray that came out on top by a margin of 2 goals to 1, thereby winning the last tournament of the season.
