Kendal Mountain Festival, England

Perched on the edge of the English Lake District in Cumbria, it is a premiere film festival–it attracts film premières from across the globe. While it’s a blend of numerous cultural programmes, at the centre of it is the International Film Competition, where a hundred films are screened with 13 prizes presented. Robert Macfarlane, the festival patron, states: “The Festival celebrates the relations between people and places – between landscapes and the human heart – as they play out in culture and literature. Its many and varied events seek to emphasise connection and community in an age of division.”
