A Saturday well spent at the Army Equestrian Centre Polo Ground - 1 where the finals of the Army Polo Championship, between 61 Cavalry and ASC, was played. The players of both the teams arrived on the field for a warm-up session and greeted each other with a look of intensity on their faces. An excited audience for the finals was delighted with a band performance before the start of the finals. The umpires for the finals, Martin Pascual and Lt Col A Samantray, blew the whistle for the finals to be kickstarted. Team ASC was awarded a 2.5 point lead due to handicap disparity. 61 Cavalry, playing in sky blue jersey gave a penalty in the early minutes of the chukker to Team ASC, who was playing in blue and white. Col GS Pandher converted the 40’ spot hit into a goal to mark the first goal of the finals. Team ASC was comfortably leading by 3.5 - 0. The match progressed with both the teams hustling hard to score a goal. The goal drought was broken by Lt Col Vishal Chauhan, who scored from the 30’ penalty.
The second chukker began with Lt Col Vishal Chauhan scoring gain from the 30’ penalty spot. 61 Cavalry displayed a brilliant game of Polo and a beautiful play from Capt Anant Rajpurohit and Capt Mrityunjay Chouhan was blocked by Maj Yatinder Kumar but Lt Col Vishal Chauhan came from nowhere to score a fantastic goal. The scoreboard showed 61 Cavalry at 3 while Team ASC leading by a margin of 0.5. As the game progressed towards the end of the second chukker, Capt Anant Rajpurohit scored from the 40’ penalty spot and ended the chukker with a lead for 61 Cavalry. Not allowing Team ASC to score a single goal in the second chukker, 61 Cavalry stepped into the field with a passion of winning the game after the half time. Dfr Ilyash Ali was provided with a powerful lofted through ball by Lt Col Vishal Chauhan, which he converted to a goal and scored the only goal of the third chukker.
The action for the last chukker began with Lt Col Vishal Chauhan scoring from the 30’ penalty. Team ASC tried hard to score but was blocked by the defence line of 61 Cavalry. Capt Mrityunjay Chouhan’s run from the left was blocked midway by ASC team’s defence. Dfr Iliyash Ali scored a goal from the 30’ penalty to end the match on a score of
